Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Covering the Capital: Honoring God's Word

Mar 24, 2026

With the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation in 2026, it is quite a special year for public readings of the Bible.

But why do we do this? Primarily because we have an example to follow from multiple places in God’s Word.

For instance, in 1 Timothy 4:3, Paul instructed Timothy to “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.”

Would you show your support for the many ways Faith & Liberty actively supports from Capitol Hill all that God is doing in our nation? We appreciate your faithful prayers and financial gifts that help Faith & Liberty thrive as we serve as your missionaries in our nation's capital.

Along with several times in the Old Testament, such as when the Israelites entered the Promised Land and when Ezra and Nehemiah gathered the people in public assembly, the New Testament book of Revelation declares: “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near” (Rev. 1:3).

Secondly, the public reading of Scripture reminds us that our Creator God is above all and that He alone deserves all praise and glory, not we Americans nor our government leaders.

Faith & Liberty will host our Annual Congressional Bible Reading on April 15. We are inviting readers to participate, including some members of Congress. Please pray with us as we finalize this year's location.

We also partner with Seedline International for the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon — which has hundreds of readers and lasts for 90 hours! This will be held April 25-29.

In light of America’s 250th anniversary, a special national Bible reading will take place this year at the Museum of the Bible in our nation’s capital. It will feature readers from all 50 states, and Faith & Liberty's senior pastor, Rev. Greg Cox, is among those who have been called upon to read an assigned passage during the weeklong “America Reads the Bible” celebration. Held April 19-25, the event will launch with an opening celebration the evening of April 18 and then will be livestreamed on Great American Pure Flix.

At Faith & Liberty, we anticipate these public readings with both reverence and joy. We very much appreciate your prayers as we participate in these important forums. May the name of Jesus be lifted high in America’s 250th year!

  • Monday Club Bible Study and numerous other Bible studies meet weekly at the Ministry Center.

  • Faith & Liberty will co-host the Israel Matters series with a special speaker and fellowship luncheon for congressional staff at our Ministry Center. We anticipate a full house of guests.

  • Lindsey Cruz attended the Senate Values Action Team meeting along with representatives from several ministries with which Faith & Liberty collaborates.

  • Lindsey also joined Monday’s America’s Prayer Coalition webinar, which focused on our nation's rededication to the Lord. The webinar featured a speakers’ panel with National Prayer Committee Chairman Geoff Eckart; A Great Awakening producer Joshua Enck of Sight & Sound; Bunni Pounds of Christians Engaged and America Reads the Bible; National Day of Prayer Task Force President Kathy Branzell; Summer Ingram of Liberty Counsel; Kelly Kullberg of the American Association of Evangelicals (AAE); and AAE board member Faith McDonnell. The webinar’s special guest was author and theologian Os Guinness who reflected on America’s first principles.

  • We are enjoying cherry blossom season here in our nation's capital — which also reminds us of the Easter season. On Wednesday, we begin emailing our “Countdown to the Resurrection” devotional readings, and we trust they are a blessing in this season leading up to Resurrection Sunday.
