Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Covering the Capital: Preparing Our Hearts for Easter

Feb 17, 2026

The meaningful, 40-day season of Lent starts this week with Ash Wednesday. We celebrate Easter — Resurrection Day — this year on April 5, but before that, many Christians around the world take this time to fast, pray, reflect on Christ’s suffering, and prepare our hearts to rejoice in the resurrection. Faith & Liberty will be participating in the Ash Wednesday service on Capitol Hill.

Would you show your support for the many ways Faith & Liberty actively supports from Capitol Hill all that God is doing in our nation? We appreciate your faithful prayers and financial gifts that help Faith & Liberty thrive as we serve as your missionaries in our nation's capital.

Many will walk out of that special service with the sign of the cross in ashes on their forehead. As they are marked with these ashes, a sign of mortality and repentance, they will hear a pastor say, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return” or something similar.

Our Creator made us out of the dust of the earth. Through this quiet time of the year, we reflect on who we are and who He is. As Romans 11:36 reminds us, “For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”

For Faith & Liberty, this is a special time to relate to both our Catholic and Protestant friends on Capitol Hill. Please pray with us for meaningful, Christ-centered conversations during this Lenten season.

We also look forward to sending you our “Countdown to the Resurrection” devotional readings, so please check your inbox for those emails to come soon. These brief readings will add to this special season in which we meditate on Christ’s death and resurrection. For now, please see our updates and prayer requests below, and we leave you with many blessings!

While many of you form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your faithful prayers and financial support, others may wish to give today for the first time or give a gift beyond your regular donations. Thank you for considering Faith & Liberty and our vital ministry in our nation’s capital. Please also ask the Lord if He would have you become one of our vitally important monthly contributors. Sign up for monthly giving on our website using the DONATE button below and select the option, “I would like to make this a recurring donation.” If you prefer to call, please ask for Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. You truly are an important part of our ministry, and we thank you!

MINISTRY RECAP
  • Peggy Nienaber attended the Religious Liberty Commission hearing. This is the fifth hearing discussing religious liberty issues related to antisemitism. It focused on issues in the private sector with employees or students being harassed because of their faith.
  • Lindsey Cruz met with the Mercy Prayer Team who shared about the work they are doing in North Carolina to engage the Gen-Z culture. Lindsey was also able to share with the team what Faith & Liberty is doing at our Ministry Center.
We enjoyed hosting the Mercy Prayer Team from North Carolina at the Ministry Center.
  • Multiple Bible studies this month focus on a variety of books in the Bible.
  • We host an America 250 intercessory prayer time every Saturday at our Ministry Center. Are you interested in joining us to pray for our nation? If so, please contact Patty Bills at 202-737-1776.
