Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Feb 10, 2026
The 74th National Prayer Breakfast last Thursday drew a full house. Faith & Liberty was there to hear two significant announcements supporting people of faith.
In President Trump’s speech, he announced a major prayer event that will be held this May 17 to “rededicate America as one nation under God.” Americans from across the country will come together that day on the National Mall to pray, praise, and give thanks to God. This 12-hour sacred event called “Rededicate 250: National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving” is part of America’s 250th birthday celebration and will be a day of speech, song, and storytelling.
Apparently referring to May 17, 1776, a national day of fasting and prayer declared by the Continental Congress before the Founders signed the Declaration of Independence, President Trump said: “Almost 250 years after our Founding Fathers took one of the greatest leaps of faith in human history … it reminds us that prayers strengthen, prayers heal, prayer empowers, and prayer saves. Quite simply, prayer is America’s superpower.”
Would you show your support for the many ways Faith & Liberty actively supports from Capitol Hill all that God is doing in our nation? We appreciate your faithful prayers and financial gifts that help Faith & Liberty thrive as we serve as your missionaries in our nation's capital.
Another significant announcement affirmed the right for teachers and students to pray in school — and not only silently.
President Trump said that the Department of Education has issued new guidance intended to protect the right of teachers and students to pray and express their faith in public schools.
“Public schools must permit students to pray privately and quietly by themselves, whether in class, at an athletic event, or before a meal,” reads the guidance. “Students may also pray in a speaking voice on the same terms as any other student might engage in non-religious speech.”
At Faith & Liberty, we rejoice that God is moving in our nation and that our President is leading not only his inner circle but also all Americans to pray and rededicate America to God.
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34

Peggy Nienaber met with the staff of Christian Concern from the U.K. as they discussed their challenges with defending faith and freedom. She escorted the Christian Concern team to Rep. Mary Miller’s office to discuss the recent Darlington nurses’ tribunal ruling regarding nurses who were forced to share a changing room with a “transgender” employee.
Peggy participated in the America 250 Civics Conference Call, planning for this year’s events to celebrate the birthday of our country.
