Press Release: America 250 Memorial To Remember the Children Lost to Abortion

Jan 20, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Faith & Liberty will host “America 250 Remembers — Remembering Victims of Roe” on the west side of the U.S. Supreme Court from 12:00—1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22.

January 22 is designated as the National Sanctity of Human Life Day. This year marks the 53rd year since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the abortion opinions Roe v. Wade, along with its companion case Doe v. Bolton, which had opened the doors in 1973 to killing pre-born babies for any reason and at any stage of development. Even though the U.S. Supreme Court voted to finally overturn the Roe v. Wade and the 1992 Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey abortion decisions on June 24, 2022, the battle for unborn life continues as abortions have increased.

In light of America’s 250th anniversary, that theme will be woven throughout this special memorial and prayer vigil. Participants will gather to remember the lives lost to abortion within the broader story of America’s history, reflecting on how the sanctity of life is woven into America’s founding principles. Scripture reading and speakers will share the history of the pro-life movement leading up to the overturn of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and will reminisce on how the nation’s Founders regarded life with the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago.

During the memorial, participants will place 3,000 red, white, and blue carnations on the sidewalk in front of the High Court in honor of the approximate number of American babies who are aborted every day. Speakers will offer reflection, prayers and/or Bible verses to honor the sanctity of human life. The speakers will include Liberty Counsel Vice President of Strategic Partnerships Rev. Gregory Cox, Faith & Liberty Senior Vice President Peggy Nienaber, Congressman Buddy Carter from Georgia, and Congressman Greg Steube from Florida.

Nienaber said, “We must never forget all the innocent unborn children that have been killed because of the horrible Roe v. Wade decision. All human life has value and worth, which the Founders recognized in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution that says we all have inherent dignity and an unalienable right to life. Without life, we do not have liberty or the pursuit of happiness. So, it is important that we always recognize the National Sanctity of Human Life Day as our opportunity to unite and remember the rights of the voiceless who have lost their lives.”
