Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Covering the Capital: Sanctity of Human Life Month

Jan 6, 2026

January is Sanctity of Human Life Month. Those who defend life and want to see the culture of death fully defeated in the post-Roe era will be gathering across the nation. The largest gathering will, no doubt, be here in our nation’s capital as people travel from across the country for the annual March for Life.

Faith & Liberty will be participating in many ways in this Life Month. Peggy Nienaber of Faith & Liberty, pro-life activist Dr. Alveda King, and Day Gardner of the National Black Pro-Life Union are leading an event at the U.S. Capitol and showing the Pardon Me: The Bevelyn B. Williams Story documentary on January 21. We will lay 3,000 red, white, and blue carnations in memory of children lost to abortion in America on January 22, and we will host a Life Reception at our Ministry Center on January 23 for those who are participating in the March for Life.

Would you show your support as we start 2026 for the many ways Faith & Liberty supports life and the family on Capitol Hill? We appreciate your faithful prayers and financial gifts that help Faith & Liberty thrive as we serve as your missionaries in our nation's capital.

Our memorial this year will be tied to America’s 250th anniversary, so we have called it “America 250 Remembers — Victims of Roe.” Along with the patriotic floral display, we will share the history of life and abortion in America, including the views of our Founders and the timeline of the pro-life movement. Please pray with us as we prepare to celebrate life in the heart of our nation’s capital!

Ephesians reminds us that God made each person for a special purpose. This month, we focus on life and celebrate His wondrous creation!

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:10).

Life is precious, and today we want to remember a good friend, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), who died at age 65. Rep. LaMalfa was a conservative and a supporter of the ministry of Faith & Liberty. Please see his picture below at our Congressional Bible Reading.

While many of you form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your faithful prayers and financial support, others may wish to give today for the first time or give an additional gift beyond your regular donations. Thank you for considering Faith & Liberty and our vital ministry in our nation’s capital. Please also ask the Lord if He would have you become one of our vitally important monthly contributors. Sign up for monthly giving on our website using the DONATE button below and select the option, “I would like to make this a recurring donation.” If you prefer to call, please ask for Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. You truly are an important part of our ministry, and we thank you!

MINISTRY RECAP
  • We are now hosting an America 250th intercessory prayer time every Saturday at our Ministry Center. If you are interested in joining us to pray for our nation, please contact Patty Bills at our office at 202-737-1776.

  • We are engaged in a great deal of planning around our Life Month events as well as America 250 and value your prayers for guidance in these planning meetings! Please see the details above and know that there is much more to come!

  • We were saddened to hear the news of the passing of Rep. Doug LaMalfa! He was such a good friend and strong Christian. Rep. LaMalfa stopped by our Ministry Center the first day he was in office. Our Ten Commandments statue had been vandalized, and he contributed toward the repairs. He stopped by often for prayer or just to say Hi, even at midnight to read the Bible during the pandemic. The Faith & Liberty team is praying for his family and for his congressional staff. May he rest in peace! You will surely be missed, our friend!

COMING SOON
  • As noted above, Faith & Liberty’s team will co-host a showing of a pro-life documentary, Pardon Me: The Bevelyn B. Williams Story, in the U.S. Capitol. If you are in Washington, D.C., and would like to attend, please contact Patty Bills at 202-737-1776 for more information.

  • We will be praying Monday evening for the Supreme Court cases being heard on Tuesday regarding men in women’s sports. The Court will decide in West Virginia v. BPJ and Little v. Hecox whether states can ban biological men from women’s Title IX sports. Peggy Nienaber will be attending the arguments.

  • Aglow International will be sending a group to our Ministry Center to pray over the ministry of Faith & Liberty. We so appreciate it when they come!

  • Peggy Nienaber will participate in the America Prays conference calls along with the planning calls for America Reads the Bible. Stay tuned for details.

  • Peggy will meet with a group of pastors and leaders discussing the upcoming One Million Souls Campaign, an initiative to awaken revival and bring 1 million people to Christ.

  • Faith & Liberty staff will be attending the America 250 planning meeting.
