Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Sep 23, 2025
When a world changer, like Charlie Kirk, moves on or passes away, there’s always a period of adjustment for their movement, and in Charlie's case, many are mourning his martyrdom. While we grieve his loss, other Charlie Kirks are taking on his mantle and rising up to fulfill their calling. We believe much will be accomplished for the Lord and for our country as we work together.
As you know, we cannot stand up for religious freedom in this country, connect with members of Congress — or engage in any other ministry activity — without your support! Please prayerfully consider giving to Faith & Liberty for the first time or supporting our ministry with a monthly recurring gift to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission.
Last week, we participated in the Executive Values Action Team Summit with Speaker Mike Johnson and House Values Action Team (VAT) Chairman Robert Aderholt. The Values Action Team promotes conservative values, including family, community, and religious freedom.
The theme of the VAT Summit was Embarkation, the great hope and promise of what lies ahead. Robert W. Weir’s oil painting titled “Embarkation of the Pilgrims” hangs in the Capitol Rotunda, reminding us that many who settled in the colonies were seeking freedom from religious persecution. It was no easy task to journey to the New World.
The painting depicts Pastor John Robinson who led the Pilgrims in one last service on the deck of their ship, the Speedwell, before embarking on their perilous journey, come what may. The sail of the ship bears the phrase “God with us.”
Along with the significance of this historic work, the words of former Congressman and former VAT Chairman Joe Pitts also rang true. Congressman Pitts reflected on what all of us can do together. He talked about two horses and what they are able to do when teamed up. If one horse can pull 8,000 lbs. and a second horse can pull 10,000 lbs., together they can pull 18,000 lbs., right? Wrong! They can accomplish much more than that; together they can pull 30,000 lbs.! His point is obvious but powerful. Working together in service to our country — and in ministry to our Lord — we can accomplish so much more than we can on our own.
That very principle is one Faith & Liberty lives by. We believe in working together with other groups and ministries to accomplish so much more than we could on our own. You also are a part of this mission and undergird us with your faithful prayers and financial support — and we thank you!

As noted above, along with about 150 people, Peggy Nienaber represented Faith & Liberty at the Executive Values Action Team Summit with Speaker Mike Johnson and House Values Action Team Chairman Robert Aderholt. Leaders from the administration and the House spoke at this encouraging event.
We attended a private reception in Speaker Mike Johnson’s office where Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spoke on using faith as we approach our new challenges and direction.
We received updates on a National Faith Advisory Board White House conference call.
Faith & Liberty participated in a House and Senate Department of Justice briefing with the Religious Liberty Commission focusing on Anti-Christian Bias within the Federal Government.
Peggy attended a memorial service for Charlie Kirk in the U.S. Capitol to continue to pray for his wife and family.
Last week, we hosted ACSI students and parents, shared the ministry of Faith & Liberty with the Christian school students and gave them a tour of our Ministry Center and some areas of Capitol Hill. They were visiting Washington on an Association of Christian Schools International trip.
Around 60 congressional interns came for a Pop-Up Trivia Night at our Ministry Center on Friday night. They were highly competitive, and it was wonderful to see how many came for Christian fellowship and lighthearted fun!
Patty Bills, Faith & Liberty’s director of Strategic Partnerships, participated in a Jewish & Christian Legal Networking Group Zoom presentation with Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel. The discussion was about Israel from a Jewish and Christian perspective. Mat provided a biblical perspective.
Peggy has been invited to speak at the National Consecration of the Court, an annual solemn assembly hosted by the Judicial Action Group Foundation. Through worship, Scripture, prophetic prayer, and youth-led moments of intercession, we will consecrate the U.S. Supreme Court to God’s purposes.
Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber will participate in Chaplain Chat hosted by U.S. House Chaplain Margaret Kibben on the topic of “Leading with Dignity.”
This month we will participate in a Capitol Hill Ministries luncheon to learn about what other ministries have planned for this fall season.
Faith & Liberty will host Supreme Court prayer training on October 5. We will engage in prayer and help trainees understand how to pray in the Supreme Court setting and in light of the rules of the High Court.
Our team is planning the She Leads America Summit for October 8-11. We will be sponsoring a Congressional Prayer Breakfast for congressional women and will host a Defending the Dignity of Women panel with members of Congress and women who have had challenges in their lives. The group will be praying with women members of Congress and holding briefings at the White House. Also, Rev. Greg Cox will meet and share with the Mordecai Men who are husbands of the women of the She Leads America movement.
In mid-October, Faith & Liberty will host another 24-hour Prayer Night. We’ll be praying for our country, the congressional staffers working on Capitol Hill, and the nations.
Peggy Nienaber and Lindsey Cruz look forward to attending the NHCLC Leadership Summit on October 14 here in Washington. The theme of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference is “What is of God, always wins.”
