Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Aug 19, 2025
Congress will be back in session next week, and activity in our nation’s capital will pick up. At Faith & Liberty, our fall calendar is filling up as well, and we are thankful that doors for ministry are opening.
We are seeing movement on Capitol Hill, giving us more opportunities to invite and engage with staffers and interns. We are also praying with and working with the administration’s faith-based office in several ways. Bible studies are being planned and are popping up all over the D.C. area, and we look forward to many ministry events in the coming season.
God is going before us, and we are thankful.
As you know, we cannot connect with members of Congress — or engage in any other ministry activity — without your support! Please prayerfully consider giving for the first time or continuing to give to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission in the nation’s capital.
In 1 Corinthians 16:9, Paul writes about "a wide door for effective work” that had opened for him. He wanted to go to Corinth, but he, wisely, chose to stay in Ephesus for a while longer. No doubt, the apostle was always thinking ahead and seeking to support the churches, but he also followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit and changed his plans as he was led.
At Faith & Liberty, we aim to do the same. We plan but want to be ever watchful and ready for open doors for immediate and unanticipated ministry opportunities. Will you pray with us in the busy fall season ahead that we will be ever vigilant to change direction in the moment? We look forward to being able to share how God has allowed us to respond, connect, and pray with others as He leads.
Thank you for praying and giving as the Lord leads! May the Lord also open doors of effective service for you today!

Peggy Nienaber had a conference call with Alveda King to plan an upcoming event in the U.S. Capitol, the showing of the pro-life documentary titled Pardon Me: The Bevelyn B. Williams Story.
Peggy met with several congressional staffers to discuss upcoming challenges and pray with them.
Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber participated in the White House Prayer Conference Call. We prayed for the administration and for events and meetings this fall.
The Faith & Liberty staff participated in a Zoom meeting with White House leadership as they announced National Faith Advisory Board’s “Back to School” Prayer, Parents, and Policy Rights for the upcoming school year. Some of the speakers were Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Riley Gaines, and Dr. Ben Carson.
We will open our Ministry Center for a Coffee Day with interns and staffers one Saturday in September. Peggy also has lined up several coffee dates to connect with those who work on Capitol Hill for fellowship and prayer.
In September, we will host ACSI students and parents, giving the Christian school students a tour of our Ministry Center and sharing the ministry of Faith & Liberty. They will be in the capital on an Association of Christian Schools International trip.
September also brings another Capitol Hill Ministries luncheon to engage in what other ministries have planned for this fall.
Peggy Nienaber will be attending the Executive Values Action Team Summit with Speaker Mike Johnson and House Values Action Team Chairman Robert Aderholt in September. We'll be hearing from the administration leaders and House leadership on a range of topics.
Our team is planning the She Leads America Summit for October 8-11. We will be sponsoring a Congressional Prayer Breakfast for congressional women and will host a Defending the Dignity of Women panel with members of Congress and women who have had challenges in their lives. The group will be praying with women members of Congress and holding briefings at the White House. Also, Rev. Greg Cox will be meeting with the men who support what the women are doing through She Leads America.
Peggy and Lindsey look forward to attending the NHCLC Leadership Summit on October 14 here in Washington. The theme of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference is “What is of God, always wins.”
Peggy Nienaber and Lindsey Cruz plan upcoming events.
