Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Aug 19, 2025
The fall season brings many challenges and demanding days for the new interns on Capitol Hill. While it is exciting and the start of a career for some, the pressure is on to keep up with the work, strive for excellence, and maintain a professional image.
A new batch of interns are headed to our nation’s capital starting this weekend, and Faith & Liberty is ready. We want to point these young adults to the Lord through personal connections, prayer times, and Bible studies. We are simply there for them in many ways — including through social events or worship nights at our Ministry Center.
As you know, we cannot engage in outreach to young people — or any other ministry activity — without your support! Please prayerfully consider giving for the first time or continuing to give to help us fulfill our unique and vital mission in the nation’s capital.
Pray that we can quickly engage, attract, and serve these new interns. We believe God has placed us on Capitol Hill not only to minister to members of Congress but also to their staff and interns. The future of this next generation is in our hands.
Many of the interns will participate in our Bible studies, and it may be the first time some of them have read the Word or had it explained to them. Several of the studies will dive into the rich book of Hebrews focusing on who Jesus is and how to keep a steadfast faith in this world.
Thank you for praying and giving as the Lord leads!

You form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your prayers and financial support. Please also pray about becoming one of our vitally important monthly contributors. Sign up for monthly giving on our website using the DONATE button below and select the option, “I would like to make this a recurring donation.” If you prefer to call, please ask for Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. You truly are an important part of our ministry, and we thank you!
Peggy Nienaber participated in the International Religious Freedom Roundtable Working Group last Tuesday.
The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom held a hearing last Wednesday with a panel discussing religious freedom issues in Turkey. Peggy was able to participate in the discussion, which was led by the new USCIRF Commissioner Vicky Hartzler.
Lindsey Cruz joined Peggy to meet with Hooman Khalili, an Iranian-American artist seeking to combat antisemitism through art and supporting the oppressed women of Iran. He shared his work and ways to raise awareness of these issues.
Peggy has lined up several upcoming coffee dates to connect with those who work on Capitol Hill for fellowship and prayer. (Now we know where Peggy gets her energy!)
We will open our Ministry Center for a Coffee Day with interns and staffers one Saturday in September.
In September, we will host ACSI students and parents, giving the Christian school students a tour of our Ministry Center and sharing the ministry of Faith & Liberty. They will be in the capital on an Association of Christian Schools International trip.
September also brings another Capitol Hill Ministries luncheon to engage in what other ministries have planned for this fall.
Our team is planning the She Leads America Summit for October 8-11. We will be sponsoring a Congressional Prayer Breakfast for congressional women and will host a Defending the Dignity of Women panel with members of Congress and women who have had challenges in their lives. The group will be praying with women members of Congress and holding briefings at the White House. Also, Rev. Greg Cox will be meeting with the men who support what the women are doing through She Leads America.
Peggy and Lindsey look forward to attending the NHCLC Leadership Summit on October 14 here in Washington. The theme of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference is “What is of God, always wins.”

We cannot do any of our events like the Prayer Retreat or the important work of bringing the Word of God to our public policy makers without your support of Faith & Liberty! We are making a difference because of the generous giving of wonderful friends like you who stand with us both in faithful prayer and financial support! We thank you!
