Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Covering the Capital: Roe Overturn - 3 Years Later

Jun 24, 2025

Today, Faith & Liberty celebrates the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that overturned the sickening Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973. We are among many pro-lifers in our nation’s capital and across the country highlighting the monumental, life-affirming Dobbs decision that came down on June 24, 2022. We continue to rejoice in the answer to our prayers that day. Our chairman, Mat Staver, always believed the decision that would overturn Roe would come in his lifetime — and, praise God, it did!

God’s heart of compassion for the unborn — and for their families — drives Faith & Liberty to seek to make a difference through our ministry in the heart of the nation’s capital. Not only do we interact with young people many of whom will be bringing children into this world, but we also seek to persuade the men and women who lead our nation to support unborn life and honor their Creator.

We know that Dobbs was not the end of this fight. The ruling favored life, but reports reveal that the number of abortions in America rose to 1.14 million in 2024 (according to the Society of Family Planning’s WeCount report). The pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute claims that “Interstate travel remains a critical pathway to abortion care.” Activists work in creative ways to get around the law and protect the killing of children in their ongoing quest for “reproductive freedom.” Using pills for chemical abortion has made murder easier in some ways but harder on women, many who are devastated by seeing the perfectly formed human that came out of their own body — the baby they didn’t have to see had they chosen to abort in a clinical setting.

Dobbs didn’t fix the whole problem, but it was a step in the right direction. We are thankful that our great and sovereign God is above all and has the last word in this war on life. In the meantime, Faith & Liberty — with you undergirding us with your support and prayers — continues to do battle for the little ones who have no voice.

Thank you, friends, for all you do to support Faith & Liberty’s ministry on Capitol Hill! Now, more than ever, we need you to continue to stand with us through your prayers and generosity. MINISTRY RECAP

  • Faith & Liberty’s Summer Bible Study Series continues with many interns and staffers being discipled in God’s Word and enjoying fellowship, which is especially needed in Washington, D.C.

  • The interns and staffers filled our Ministry Center with praise during Worship Night this past week. We love hearing them lift up their voices to the Lord!

  • Sunday’s Women’s Bible study fills our stomach with a meal but our hearts and minds with the Word! We had a packed Ministry Center as we continued to study Psalm 34.
COMING SOON
  • Life Month is nearly over, but Faith & Liberty supports and promotes unborn life year round! Our staff continues to pray and plan in many pro-life events and meetings. The precious lives of the unborn are near to the heart of their Creator God — and to our hearts!

  • Peggy has a meeting scheduled to begin planning for the She Leads America Summit in October.

  • Our annual Prayer Retreat is coming up in early August! The prayer retreat is our time to take a day and go before God and thank Him for our supporters by name and pray for their needs. Please share your prayer needs anytime between now and the end of July so we can intercede for you by name! You may contact Patty Bills with your requests by calling 202-737-1776 or emailing [email protected].
