May is Jewish American Heritage Month, and Faith & Liberty has been participating in the commemoration and celebration.

But along with the festivities, we were reminded of the rising antisemitism in America when a pro-Palestinian man (admittedly so) came to our nation’s capital and gunned down two young Israeli embassy staffers. Although the Jewish people live knowing that they are an object of hatred, antisemitism sometimes raises its ugly head so radically that it becomes a wake-up call.

Upon leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum last Wednesday evening, these two young professionals with a bright future ahead were shot to death. Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were set to leave for Jerusalem and were about to get engaged. Sarah attended the She Leads America events that Faith & Liberty hosted at the end of last year, and she was also at the Jewish American Heritage event we attended last Tuesday — the day before Sarah’s life was tragically cut short! We were so sad to hear this news!

During this sad time and in an ongoing way, Faith & Liberty has opportunities to show our support for the Jewish people. We pray, too, for our nation, that antisemitism would be suppressed, and we pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and the Holy Land. Please join us as we pray for the Jewish people, for Israel, and for the 58 Israeli hostages still held in captivity!

  • Faith & Liberty was present at a Pro-Life Meeting on Capitol Hill to focus on the upcoming pro-life agenda in Congress.

  • Peggy Nienaber attended a briefing for House leadership. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise shared concerns and information on late-night votes and ongoing agendas in the U.S. House.

  • As mentioned above, Peggy attended a Tuesday event commemorating American Jewish Heritage Month. Since 2010, members of Congress and participants from the Jewish community have gathered to recognize the many contributions of the Jewish people to the United States.

  • Pastries and Prayer is a private time of prayer for the unborn. We participated in this special time of morning prayer for the babies and families of America.

  • Peggy Nienaber will participate in an annual commemoration of Jerusalem Day on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and other Christian leaders. Members of Congress and Christian leaders express their support for a united Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the State of Israel.
  • Faith & Liberty staff will be meeting with new interns who will intern in various offices this summer.
