Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
May 20, 2025
Faith & Liberty has been ministering on Capitol Hill as well as across this great land of ours for many years. You may have been reading this update every week for some time, but starting now, you will notice it has a new name: “Covering the Capital.”
We’ve refreshed the name for multiple reasons, including the fact that reading the “Faith & Liberty Monday Report” may not actually get accomplished until later in the week. Additionally, we are involved in many activities, and some deserve more attention than the few lines they get in a brief report.
There may also be times when you receive reports from us more than once a week, but we promise not to deluge your inbox! We consider you a critical support to this ministry, and at times, we need you to uphold our arms in prayer, just as Aaron and Hur did with Moses when he became fatigued. It was only when Moses held up his hands that Israel prevailed on the battlefield (Exodus 17:8-16).
We trust you will continue to read Faith & Liberty’s “Covering the Capital.” As you do, please pray through the items on our to-do list. Even if we don’t have official prayer points, we know our intercessors and supporters will bring our needs, concerns, and priorities to our Lord — who answers prayer!
Now for the best news of all! Our Bible studies continue to draw all kinds of people working on Capitol Hill. Sometimes we are made aware of how God’s Spirit is working quietly in the hearts of those who attend. Recently, two atheists who attended at the same Bible study time became Christians! We didn’t even know they were atheists!
Friends, the Good News of the Gospel is truly Good News! Praise the Lord with us and thank you for supporting us in so many ways so we can be present on Capitol Hill!

The Aglow International women visited last week to pray for our ministry in the nation’s capital. Their prayers — and yours — sustain us in this important work!
Peggy Nienaber enjoyed participating in a women’s brunch on Saturday. It was a great time to meet new friends and participate in ministry life on Capitol Hill.
Peggy also assisted in presenting the Christian Women of Distinction Award to CBN News Correspondent Dana Ritter. The ceremony was held in Rep. Virginia Foxx’s office.
Lindsey Cruz participated in the Israel Advocacy Day Dinner and meeting in support of Israel. More than 250 pastors, rabbis, and other faith leaders have joined in a multi-faith coalition to deliver a unified message in support of protecting Israel and Jewish Americans.
Lindsey Cruz, left, attended the Israel Advocacy Day dinner along with Cindy Matthews of Covenant Journey.
Faith & Liberty will be present at a Pro-Life Meeting on Capitol Hill to focus on the upcoming pro-life agenda in Congress.
Peggy Nienaber will attend a briefing for House leadership to share updates and concerns. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise will share concerns and information on late-night votes and ongoing agendas.
We will be attending a Tuesday event commemorating American Jewish Heritage Month. Since 2010, members of Congress and participants from the Jewish community have gathered to recognize the many contributions of the Jewish people to the United States.
Pastries and Prayer is a private time of prayer for the unborn. We will participate in this special time of morning prayer as abortion still haunts us in America!
Our annual Prayer Retreat will be here before we know it! We ask that you notify us anytime between now and the end of July with your prayer needs so we can intercede for you by name! Please contact Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office with your requests at 202-737-1776 or [email protected].
