Our busiest week of the year has begun! But it’s also a historic week.
Today is Inauguration Day, and the eyes of the world are on Washington. President-elect Trump has been sworn into office and has hit the ground running with the priorities of his new administration. With the transition at the White House and the inauguration moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda, security is high. We pray that President Trump and Vice President Vance will seek God’s wisdom as they lead our great nation.
Today is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While many of us are familiar with the civil rights leader’s primary values — justice, nonviolence, peace, equality, and more — reading his speeches and quotes is an exercise in national reflection. This one from a 1957 speech in Montgomery, Alabama, ought to inspire us all: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
Today, let us be about the business of serving others in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. One way to serve “the least of these” (Matt. 25:40) is to urge members of the U.S. House and Senate to vote for the preservation of life as they bring the Born Alive Act to the floor. This vote is coming in the context of a new administration and the season in which our nation is focused on life after yesterday’s Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and ahead of the March for Life, and the many other activities in which we are hosting or participating, including our LIFE Reception and Prayers & Remembrance — Victims of Roe (see more below).
There may be a vote in the House and Senate on the Born Alive Act this week, most likely on Friday. Please click on the fax/petition links below to let your voice be heard on this significant legislation:
We thank you for praying and acting on behalf of life and future generations of Americans! And be sure to stay tuned for next week’s exciting report!
