Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Dec 2, 2024
The week has finally arrived for our Live Nativity!
The camel, sheep, and other animals got their shots.
All necessary permits are secured.
The program is prepared.
The sound system is ready.
Individuals and churches have volunteered to help.
Swansboro United Methodist Church — whose sewing circle crafted the new costumes made possible by a generous donor — blessed the new Live Nativity costumes during their Sunday service.
So, join us with your continuing prayers for the gospel of Jesus Christ come to earth to go forth effectively on December 5 starting at 11 a.m. Thank you!

MONDAY RECAP
Tuesday evening, we hosted a Friendsgiving dessert at the Ministry Center for interns, congressional staffers, and others who were not able to go home for the holiday.
Several people opened their homes in Washington, D.C., for Thanksgiving dinners for congressional staffers who did not go home for the holiday. Peggy Nienaber attended one of these open-door dinners.
Patty Bills spoke at the Swansboro United Methodist Church before holding a prayer time for the Live Nativity costumes that will be used this week.
COMING SOON
Peggy Nienaber and Patty Bills will be attending the Christmas in the Capitol event hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson’s office this Wednesday evening.
Along with many in Washington, on Tuesday evening, we will take in the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting on the West Lawn of the Capitol, which is also where we co-host the Bible Reading Marathon.
Prayer groups are active on the Hill because of Wednesday’s transgender case at the Supreme Court.
On Jan. 20, the morning of the presidential inauguration, our team will be helping two other ministries hand out Bibles for those attending the ceremony.
We will also host a meet-and-greet for visitors coming for the inauguration. Let us know if you will be in Washington for the festivities around the presidential inauguration and can stop by the Ministry Center. Please call Patty Bills at 202-737-1776 or email her at [email protected].
Peggy Nienaber will be meeting with new members of Congress after they have been sworn into office. This will give us time to pray with them and invite their staffers to our Bible studies and events held at the Ministry Center.
During inauguration week, we have our pro-life events (as we usually do in January). Stay tuned for more on those activities, including our LIFE Reception at our Ministry Center.
PRAYER POINTS
Thank the Lord that all our needs for personnel, permits, and costumes have been supplied for the Live Nativity. No doubt your prayers have helped!
Pray for God’s protection and blessing over upcoming activities, including this week’s Live Nativity, Bible distribution at the inauguration, and our pro-life memorial and reception.
Thank the Lord for our Bible studies and the fellowship and support that comes from these gatherings. We pray that each person who joins the studies will grow in their understanding of God's holy Word.
Pray that our Ministry Center would continue to serve as a home away from home for interns and congressional staffers, especially during the holidays.
Pray for peace and security, including at the Supreme Court this week with volatile cases and during the inauguration. Pray for the outgoing and incoming administrations as end and start their terms, respectively.
