Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Nov 28, 2024
ONLY SIX MORE DAYS TILL THE LIVE NATIVITY!
In less than one week, Faith & Liberty will once again present a live reenactment of the birth of Jesus right in front of the U.S. Supreme Court and across the street from the U.S. Capitol building. But we need YOUR help to make sure it happens.
Giving is a part of the Christmas season — not because of a jolly man in a red suit, but in remembrance of the gifts the wise men, or Magi, brought to lay at the feet of the Christ Child.
According to Matthew, “Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11).
Many of the ancients considered the gold a gift of wisdom and how the wise prepare for the future: “There is precious treasure and oil in the house of the wise [who prepare for the future], but a short-sighted and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it” (Proverbs 22:20, AMP).
They viewed the frankincense as a symbol of prayer: “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2).
And, finally, they saw the myrrh as symbolic of the act of subduing one’s own desires: “And my hands dripped with myrrh, My fingers with liquid myrrh” (Song of Solomon 5:5).
Myrrh was part of the anointing oil and was also one of the spices brought to the tomb of Jesus. Understand that in the context of the prayer of Jesus, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39).
What was the message of the Magi delivered through their gifts? This young child, born in a manger, would one day submit Himself to the will of His Father in heaven, even unto His own death as our evening sacrifice, and prepare for us a glorious future in His presence!
That is the message of the gospel — and in just six more days, it will be our illustrated message to our national leaders through the Live Nativity!
Whether a Supreme Court justice, senator, or president, God’s answer for their lives is the same as His answer for us — salvation through Jesus Christ!
Thank you for your continued support and prayers!
