Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Nov 27, 2024
There are seven more days until the Live Nativity will again publicly declare the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ to our nation’s leaders! Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men, and even baby Jesus will be situated in plain view of our nation’s Capitol building and the Supreme Court as a reminder to all that Christ is King.
But we need your help to make this happen. Will you please stand with us for this unique outreach to the “learned men and women” on Capitol Hill? Select Here to make a difference!
Right now, in Washington, D.C., many national leaders claim to be acting based upon the “science” and the “facts”! The reality is, while so many public policy makers claim to seek the facts, what they need more than anything else is the Truth — the same Truth acknowledged so many centuries ago by the Magi from the East!
Matthew 2 tells us: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.’”
Who were these Wise Men? Why were they looking for a sign? And why was their story so important it became part of the Gospel record? Originally, the word translated “wise men” referred to a class of Persian priests who specialized in interpreting dreams and bringing messages from the gods.
Sound familiar? Perhaps Daniel, the Jewish leader whom God used to speak to Babylonian and Medo-Persian kings, comes to mind. After all, it was Daniel, while living in Persia centuries before the Wise Men, to whom God revealed the exact timeline for the coming of the Messiah (Daniel 9).
Why were they searching the stars for signs of the coming Jewish king? It’s possible the Magi were familiar with the prophecies of Daniel and knew they were living at the critical moment in history Daniel foretold.
But the most important part of the passage is the last phrase — we have come to worship Him! As Matthew records the journey of these pagan astrologers seeking the young king, he is describing to us the firstfruits of the salvation of the Gentile nations. That includes you and me!
But that salvation comes at a cost. We MUST worship Him — and that’s hard for so many in Washington, D.C., who want to control the church and who seem to worship only power!
Yet, as the costumed Wise Men who are part of the Live Nativity stand between the Supreme Court and the Capitol, that is the critical message they are conveying. As the Magi bowed and worshipped the child in the manger, we, too, including our national leaders, must bow before the Lord Jesus, the anointed King!
That is the hope of America — and the hope for all humankind. That’s why the Live Nativity is so important! And that’s why we need you to stand with us right now by making the most generous investment you can in this unique “illustrated gospel tract.”
Thank you for standing with us through your prayers and your generous support. God Bless You!
