Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Nov 25, 2024

We look forward to Thanksgiving this week because it is the one holiday when our focus is on gratefulness. We are grateful for our ministry, grateful for our country, and most of all, grateful for our great God. How can we thank Him enough for salvation, for life, for fellowship in Christ, for ministry, for family, for help and guidance, for you, and for so much more?

Even amid the challenges we face in our personal or family lives or in our nation and world today — and there are many — we thank Him because He is a good God and will see us through as He has many times before.

We leave you with Psalm 92:1-4:

It is good to give thanks to the LORD

And to sing praises to Your name, Most High;

To declare Your goodness in the morning

And Your faithfulness by night,

With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp,

With resounding music on the lyre.

For You, LORD, have made me joyful by what You have done,

I will sing for joy over the works of Your hands.

This Thanksgiving week, break out your lute or lyre, your harp or whatever you have in praise to our great God!

The Faith & Liberty team

As we plan for the Live Nativity on Tuesday, December 5, please keep our team and the preparations in your prayers. If you would kindly consider an extra gift toward this event, you can do so on our Faith & Liberty website, or call Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. Thank you!

MONDAY RECAP
  • We hosted a pop-up Friendsgiving breakfast last Saturday at the Ministry Center for those who work on Capitol Hill who are not able to go home to family and friends for the holiday.
  • Peggy Nienaber opened in prayer for the U.S. Senate Thanksgiving Bible Study service. Congressional staffers and those who work on Capitol Hill attended a special Thanksgiving Bible study. We gave thanks to God for our many blessings while sharing delicious Thanksgiving desserts.

COMING SOON
  • Tuesday evening, we will host a Friendsgiving dessert at the Ministry Center for interns, congressional staffers, and others who cannot go home for the holiday.

  • This coming Sunday the Swansboro United Methodist Church will bless the new Live Nativity costumes Patty Bills picked up last week. They will be worn for this coming Nativity and for many more thereafter. The final prep for the animal records and shots (Yes, they must get shots to participate!) will take place this week, then we are all set for the Live Nativity on December 5 starting at 11 a.m.

  • Peggy Nienaber and Patty Bills will be attending the Christmas in the Capitol event hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson’s office next Wednesday.

  • Looking ahead to 2025, during the morning of the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, our team will be helping two other ministries hand out Bibles for those attending the ceremony.

  • We will also host a meet-and-greet for those coming to Washington for the presidential inauguration. Let us know if you will be in D.C. for the festivities and can stop by the Ministry Center. Please call Patty Bills at 202-737-1776 or email her at [email protected].

  • Peggy Nienaber will be meeting with new members of Congress after they have been sworn into office. This will give us time to pray with them and invite their staffers to our Bible studies and events held at the Ministry Center.

  • During the president-elect's inauguration week, we also have our pro-life events (as we usually do in January). Stay tuned for more on those activities, including our LIFE Reception at our Ministry Center.

PRAYER POINTS

Thank the Lord for our vital ministry on Capitol Hill and for our supporters who are faithful in prayer, giving, and volunteering in many ways. We are grateful for you!

Pray for God’s protection and blessing over upcoming activities, including the Live Nativity, Bible distribution at the inauguration, and our pro-life memorial and reception.

Pray for a sufficient number of volunteers to participate in our Live Nativity on Dec. 5. Praise God that all permits are approved. Thank the Lord for those who gave of their finances and time to make this possible!

Thank the Lord for our Bible studies and the fellowship and support that comes from these gatherings. While our Bible studies are taking a break during Thanksgiving, we pray that each person who joins the studies will grow in their understanding of God's holy Word.

Pray that our Ministry Center would continue to serve as a home away from home for interns and congressional staffers, especially during the holidays.

Pray for the peace and security of our country, including at the Supreme Court and during the inauguration. Pray for the outgoing and incoming administrations as end and start their terms, respectively.
