Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Nov 11, 2024
Today is Veterans Day, a special day to thank and honor all who served honorably in the military in a time of war or a time of peace. At Faith & Liberty, we value the peace and freedom we have in our nation to live as Americans and as people of faith.
On this important day, we thank each of you who served — no matter the era; no matter your rank; no matter if you had an office job, ministered as a chaplain on the front lines, or dropped bombs over enemy territory, whatever your role; no matter if you were drafted or not; no matter whether you enlisted or were trained as an officer — you served in the U.S. military, and we thank you!
On this day especially, we support in prayer our current and past military service men and women. Some may be struggling with PTSD or other mental health issues, some may be homeless, and some may have challenges re-entering the civilian workforce. There are many concerns for which to pray as we thank military members for their service.
"Give to everyone what you owe them ... if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor" (Rom. 13:7).
Please also join us in unified prayer for all the requests below. Thank you!

The Faith & Liberty team
You form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your prayerful financial support. As we plan for the Live Nativity on Tuesday, December 5, please keep our team and the preparations in your prayers. If you would kindly consider an extra gift toward this event, you can do so on our Faith & Liberty website, or call Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you. Thank you!
Peggy Nienaber had several coffee dates last week, allowing time for prayer with congressional staffers on Capitol Hill.
Our weekly Bible studies resume this week as does Rock Wednesday, a prayer reflection time for congressional staffers in the U.S. Capitol.
We are planning a Thanksgiving event at the Ministry Center for those who work on Capitol Hill who cannot go home to family and friends for the holiday.
During the morning of the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, we will be handing out Bibles for those attending the ceremony.
We will also host a meet-and-greet for those coming for the inauguration. Let us know if you will be in the capital and will be able to come to the Ministry Center. Email Patty Bills at [email protected].
Peggy Nienaber and the Faith & Liberty team will be meeting with new members of Congress after they have been sworn into office. This will give us time to pray with them and invite their staffers to our Bible studies.
Thank the Lord for those who served and continue to serve in the U.S. military for our freedom.
Pray for the vote count from this election season to be completed accurately. Pray for the outgoing and incoming administrations as end and start their terms, respectively. Pray for the peace and security of our country.
Pray for God’s protection and blessing over our upcoming events, including the Live Nativity as a demonstration of the gospel on Capitol Hill.
Pray for a sufficient number of volunteers to participate in our Live Nativity and that we are able to engage new local congregations in this important presentation. Pray for the sewing circle as they have quite the task to accomplish!
Thank the Lord for our ongoing Bible studies and the fellowship and support that comes from these gatherings.
Pray that our Ministry Center would continue to serve as a home away from home for interns and congressional staffers, especially during the holidays.
