Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Oct 7, 2024

If ever our nation needed to acknowledge God and humble ourselves before Him, it is now. That is why it is most appropriate that this Saturday a gathering of 1 million women (along with families) is expected on the National Mall in our nation’s capital. It will be a glorious site to see! Christian women of all ages, races, and walks of life will join as one to unify in a movement of prayer and fasting for America to bless and return to God. These women are called “Esthers,” aligned with Queen Esther of the Bible who, with Mordecai, was able to save the Jewish people from extinction.

Today, it is also appropriate to again remember the Jewish people. One year ago, the Israeli people were caught in a devastating terrorist attack. We pray for God’s will to prevail in the war in the Middle East and for the hostages to be returned safely to Israel.

“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14b).

It’s amazing how God directs the circumstances of our lives, as Esther’s life illustrates.

We believe, too, that God has positioned Faith & Liberty in Washington at this critical time. If you are not able to attend the gathering on the Mall this weekend, please join us in unity in prayer on behalf of our nation ahead of next month’s critical election. Thank you and God bless you!

MONDAY RECAP
  • Faith & Liberty hosted over 40 congressional interns and staffers for Trivia Night at the Ministry Center. Cheers, laughter, and applause filled the back patio as the teams competed to answer the questions first!

  • The interns enjoyed Pizza Time during our Wednesday Bible study. Plenty of food and fellowship!
  • Peggy Nienaber attended the King’s Church Women’s Brunch on Saturday. The theme was “Jesus and the Woman of Samaria” that left us with an important question: “What can we learn from the woman’s response to her encounter with Jesus?” It was a time of life-giving conversation and great food!

Peggy Nienaber with Karen Porter, the speaker for the women’s brunch.

  • The Faith & Liberty staff participated in the Chaplain Chat as U.S. House of Representatives Chaplain Margaret Kibben shared about “Faith Matter: Faith over Fears.”

  • Peggy Nienaber attended a pro-life meeting on Capitol Hill. The group focused on the upcoming elections and issues at hand in Congress.

  • Peggy Nienaber, senior vice president of Faith & Liberty, and Jonathan Alexandre, vice president of governmental affairs of Liberty Counsel, have been invited to pray on separate individual days during the 40 Days USA, a call to prayer for our nation featuring 40 Christian leaders. We are thankful for this opportunity congressional staffers and interns.

  • The Aglow women will be visiting our Ministry Center. We are thankful they stand with us in prayer!

  • Faith & Liberty plans to participate in Lou Engle’s gathering of A Million Voices on the National Mall on Oct. 12, which coincides with the Jewish Day of Atonement. This Esther Call on the Mall will be a time of fasting and prayer for our nation.

  • The National Prayer Assembly, October 10-11, is collaborating with the Million Women gathering. Faith & Liberty’s staff will be attending the National Prayer Assembly and praying for America at this critical hour, as we face a pivotal election and many other issues, from hurricanes in the South to family issues before Congress. We’ll be praying in and for unity, authority, and faith.

PRAYER

Pray for a hedge of protection around the huge gatherings in our nation’s capital dedicated to prayer and fasting this weekend.

Pray that life, religious freedom, and the natural family will prevail in the halls of Congress and in the White House.

Continue to pray for our nation, for protection for all candidates running for office, and for the integrity of elections across America. Pray that life, freedom, and the natural family will prevail at the polls.

Pray for those who were affected across the Southeast by Hurricane Helene and for those in the path of Hurricane Milton.

Pray for our Bible studies and that the Word of God would have a great impact in the lives of all who attend. Pray for strong Christian friendships to be formed as well!

Pray for good health and energy for every staff member of Faith & Liberty. We have much to do as we minister in Washington, D.C.!

We thank the Lord for all of the interns and staffers who make our Ministry Center their home away from home! Pray for continuing good connections for the new congressional interns on Capitol Hill.
