Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Sep 16, 2024

Good day, friends of Faith & Liberty!

The battle for the soul of our nation is on! We see this on many fronts — faith, freedom, the family — all of which align with the ministry of Faith & Liberty on Capitol Hill.

In this election season, rage is on the rise. We often include the request to pray for the safety and security of all running for office. This includes President Trump who was the intended target in yet another assassination attempt this past weekend. We are thankful the shooter failed in his quest and Trump was not hit, but we pray for his continued protection.

We also remember in prayer those members of Congress who take a strong stand for life, religious freedom, and the family. We will honor four of those members at the upcoming Women’s Congressional Prayer Breakfast.

If there is any time our nation needs prayer, it is now. Join us as we stand in agreement (“with one accord”) as the early church did.

“So, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:46-47).

MONDAY RECAP
  • About 30 interns and congressional staffers gathered at our Ministry Center for Worship Night. It was a beautiful time of praise to our Lord!

  • Rev. Greg Cox, Faith & Liberty’s senior pastor, attended a meeting on Capitol Hill with several in high-ranking military and diplomatic posts addressing “Iran: Confronting the Threat and Securing a Solution.” There were presentations about the conditions in Iran and the desire to see a democratic Iran replace the current oppressive regime. This would allow for greater religious freedom in this Middle Eastern nation.

  • Faith and Liberty’s newest staff member, Lindsey Cruz, and Rev. Cox met with U.S. Senate Chaplain Barry Black.

  • As you may know, Patty Bills is working behind the scenes with a church women’s sewing circle on the costumes for our Live Nativity. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the Live Nativity event on Dec. 4, now is the time to call Patty at 202-737-1776 to let us know of your interest.
COMING SOON
  • Peggy Nienaber and Jonathan Alexandre, vice president of governmental affairs of Liberty Counsel, have been invited to pray on separate individual days during the 40 Days USA, a call to prayer for our nation featuring 40 Christian leaders. We are thankful for this opportunity!

  • Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber have been working on a She Leads America Women’s Reception to be held next week at our Ministry Center to meet with women leaders for fellowship and prayer. The Faith & Liberty staff will share how we are serving on Capitol Hill.

  • Members of Congress have also been invited to the Women’s Congressional Prayer Breakfast recognizing four women members for their standing for pro-life, pro-family, and other important issues. Leaders from She Leads America will assist with the event, along with our Faith & Liberty team.

  • Faith & Liberty will participate in the Dignity of Women Sports Lunch on Capitol Hill. Olympians Dr. Madeline Manning Mims and Chandra Cheeseborough will share their thoughts on fairness in women's sports along with advocate and NCAA volleyball player Macy Petty and other speakers.

  • Speaking of sports, Faith & Liberty will be hosting a college football activity for interns and staffers at our Ministry Center on September 21. It will be a great time to fellowship while watching college football.

  • Faith & Liberty will co-host a screening of the Unthinkable documentary, an Abby Johnson film exposing the dirtiest secrets of the abortion industry. Members of Congress and congressional staffers have been invited to the screening on September 25 in the U.S. Capitol. In addition, Faith & Liberty and Liberty Counsel Action will co-host a screening of Unthinkable at the Ministry Center in September for leaders on Capitol Hill.

  • In September, Faith & Liberty will host the #Let Them Choose conference at the Ministry Center. The Alliance for Israel Advocacy has asked members of Congress to address attendees about a plan for Gaza.

  • Planning has begun for the Officer Recognition Award ceremony to be held in October where Faith & Liberty will recognize those who serve in law enforcement on Capitol Hill.

  • Faith & Liberty plans to participate in Lou Engle’s gathering of 1 million women on the National Mall on Oct. 12, which coincides with the Jewish Day of Atonement. This Esther Call on the Mall will be a time of fasting and prayer for our nation.
