Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Sep 10, 2024
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).
The word “righteousness” here is not used in the context of an individual’s relationship to God, but rather that of a nation and its commitment to biblical morality. Any nation that embraces the moral clarity of the Word of God will be exalted, but it is a disgrace for any nation to reject God’s moral law as revealed through His Word. As we see, such rejection brings serious national consequences.
It is always so inspirational to see how God is working through you and your faithful and prayerful support of our ministry at Faith & Liberty to advance His Kingdom and His Righteousness right here on Capitol Hill.
Just today, a group of about a dozen young men — staffers and interns in all three branches of government — gathered in our Ministry Center, directly across the street from the U.S. Supreme Court, for prayer and Bible study. Their smiles and laughter did not take away from the seriousness of their commitment to Jesus or their determination to live out their faith in the workplace.
And that cadre of dedicated young men is just a small sampling of the ministry that happens every day here at Faith & Liberty.
During any given week, our facility is bustling with young staffers and interns, gathering for prayer meetings, Bible studies, cookouts, ice cream socials, and other types of ministries and fellowship times. Our goal is to introduce them to Christ, reinforce their faith in Him, disciple them, and encourage them as they daily face incredible pressures while performing their responsibilities on the Hill.
And together, we are having a tangible impact.
One of the highlights of our week was seeing how God is using our Ministry Center to reach women. Thursday Night’s Women’s Bible Study had an attendance of 50, a packed house indeed! It truly was a special time of fellowship around the Word of God, and we pray that this group of women will bond as they pursue God’s will and apply His Word in their lives.
At the same time, we are regularly interacting with our national leaders, challenging them with the truths of the Gospel and bringing the Word of God to bear on their hearts and minds. There is simply not another ministry like Faith & Liberty here in our nation’s capital.
For instance, later this month Faith & Liberty will participate in the Dignity of Women Sports Lunch on Capitol Hill. Led by Dr. Madeline Manning Mims and Chandra Cheeseborough, both gold and silver Olympic track medalists, this event will inform the media about this important topic. These past Olympians will share their thoughts on fairness in women's sports along with NCAA volleyball player and advocate Macy Petty and other speakers.
In addition, we will co-host a screening of the Unthinkable documentary, an Abby Johnson film exposing the dirtiest secrets of the abortion industry. The screening will be on September 25 in the U.S. Capitol. Members of Congress and congressional staffers are expected to attend. Faith & Liberty also will host a screening of Unthinkable at our Ministry Center in September for leaders on Capitol Hill.
The eternal impact we have every day in our nation’s capital is happening because of the support of wonderful friends like you. In fact, our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because you stand with us both in faithful prayer and in your generous financial support!
As the fall season approaches, we are entering our busiest time of ministry and more than ever we need both your prayers and your generosity. And right now, due to our Challenge Grant, your gift will have twice the impact!
Thank you for standing with us at Faith & Liberty. Together, we will continue to challenge our leaders to walk and act in ways that embrace the righteousness of God, resulting in God’s blessing upon our nation. And we will continue to encourage and disciple the young Capitol Hill staffers and interns who play such a vital role in all three branches of government.
