As we conclude the beautiful summer months here in our nation’s capital, we will have a welcome quieter week, allowing us time to prepare for our fall events. Please preview with us what’s ahead this fall so you can be in prayer for this busy season of ministry.

The congressional interns we’ve come to know and love have headed home — or to wherever their next adventure awaits — but a new batch of young adults come this week to intern on Capitol Hill. We so look forward to serving alongside this next class of bright young interns.

Next month, we are adding some new Bible studies for women and for men, along with intern nights at the Ministry Center.

Along with another Israel-related event coming up, there will also be a Boneh Israel (Building Israel) event at our Ministry Center. We will host members of Congress to discuss the issues of concern for Israel.

We will also have a visit from women leaders from She Leads America, who are in Washington to pray specifically with our women members of Congress.

Faith & Liberty also will host two screenings of the Unthinkable pro-life documentary, one of them at our Ministry Center, and we’ll have a women’s congressional prayer breakfast and prayer reception at the Ministry Center.

Fall will bring new arguments to the Supreme Court here on Capitol Hill, and we’ll be ready to do battle in prayer for the critical cases our nation’s Justices must decide.

Of course, the presidential election is upon us. November 5 will be here before we know it, and we will be part of many 40 days of prayer times as we approach Election Day.

We will be closing out the year with our Live Nativity and are calling on any of you who might be interested in volunteering for or donating toward that event. It is one of our biggest and most visible outreaches for those who work on Capitol Hill.

MONDAY RECAP

We have a new team member at Faith & Liberty! We are happy to welcome Lindsey Cruz as our new ministry manager. Lindsey is young but has a wide variety of ministry and nonprofit experience and cares about the issues we do! She will be a key member of our outreach on Capitol Hill, where she will manage our Ministry Center facilities and organize many of our activities.

Patty Bills met with the Swansboro United Methodist Church to help plan the new costumes that will be made for December’s Live Nativity outreach.

COMING SOON

  • Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber have been working on a She Leads America Women’s Reception to be held at our Ministry Center in September. This will be a prayer and meet-and-greet time for the ladies to get acquainted and learn about the events of the week, plus share how Faith & Liberty is serving on Capitol Hill.

  • Members have also been invited to the Women’s Congressional Prayer Breakfast recognizing women Members of Congress for their pro-life, pro-family and other important issues. Many She Leads America Leaders will be present to assist in the event.

  • Faith & Liberty will participate in the Dignity of Women Sports Lunch on Capitol Hill. Led by Dr. Madeline Manning Mims and Chandra Cheeseborough, both gold and silver Olympic track medalists, this event will inform the media about this important topic. These past Olympians will share their thoughts on fairness in women's sports along with advocate and NCAA volleyball player Macy Petty and other speakers.

  • Faith & Liberty will co-host a screening of the Unthinkable documentary, an Abby Johnson film exposing the dirtiest secrets of the abortion industry. The screening will be on September 25 in the U.S. Capitol. Faith & Liberty and Liberty Counsel Action also will co-host a screening of Unthinkable at the Ministry Center in September for leaders on Capitol Hill.

  • In September, Faith & Liberty will host the #Let Them Choose conference at the Ministry Center. The Alliance for Israel Advocacy has asked members of Congress to address attendees about a plan for Gaza.

  • Planning has begun for the Officer Recognition Award ceremony to be held in October where Faith & Liberty will recognize those who serve in law enforcement on Capitol Hill.


PRAYER

Thank the Lord for our new staff member, Lindsey Cruz! Pray for Lindsey as she gets acquainted with Faith & Liberty’s ministry and staff.

Pray for every staff member of Faith & Liberty, that we will fully fulfill our calling in service to the Lord on Capitol Hill. Pray for wisdom, too, as we plan our upcoming events and for every detail to fall into place.

Pray for our ongoing Bible studies and the new ones we are adding to the schedule. Pray that new staffers and interns would come and make studying the Scriptures a priority in their busy schedules!

Pray for the new congressional interns coming to Capitol Hill. Pray that we will have good connections with them and be able to minister to them at this critical stage of life.

Pray for meaningful opportunities for our members of Congress to connect with their constituents while members are in their districts (until September 9). Pray also for opportunities to meet and pray with congressional staffers at this quieter time.

Pray for our nation, for protection for all candidates running for office, and for the integrity of elections across America.
