Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Jul 29, 2024

Each year we designate a time for the Faith & Liberty team to gather for the specific purpose of prayer. While we engage in prayer regularly in many settings, there is something powerful about being fully focused at a time set apart to intercede for our nation, for our leaders, and for our ministry.

As believers, this is one way we are markedly different from the world around us. Those who don’t yet understand God as a loving Heavenly Father have no need or motivation to be with Him in communion or bring their concerns to Him in intercession. But, for followers of Christ, there are many reasons to pray, including these:

  • We pray because we believe in God.

  • We pray because we need God.

  • We pray because God commands us to pray.

  • We pray because we need forgiveness.

  • We pray to get closer to God.

  • We pray for wisdom in making decisions.

  • We pray because we want His heart for others.

  • We pray to resist the enemy of our souls, Satan.

Psalm 145:18 assures us: “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

On Aug. 5-7, during our Faith & Liberty Prayer Retreat, we will pray for our country, members of Congress, and Supreme Court Justices. We'll look to the Lord to guide and strengthen us for the work of the ministry in our nation’s capital and beyond. We also specifically intercede for every one of our supporters. See the details below for how to submit your prayer requests or use the link here: Send us your prayer requests for our annual retreat.

Thank you for your support through prayer and giving to stand with us in the vital mission of Faith & Liberty!

MONDAY RECAP
  • The last Bible study for the summer for interns was held Thursday night. They are headed back home after an incredible learning experience in our nation’s capital!

  • We hosted a summer cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers last week. It was one of the hottest days of the summer in D.C., but we still enjoyed ourselves! We also let congressional staffers know about Bible studies and events in which they can participate.

  • Faith & Liberty will co-host a screening of Unthinkable, an Abby Johnson film exposing the dirtiest secrets of the abortion industry. Peggy Nienaber was on a virtual call with the producers this past week. The screening will be in the U.S. Capitol on September 25.

  • Protests broke out on Capitol Hill while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was speaking to Congress. We were on alert, conscious of security, but most of all, we continue to pray for Israel, and all affected by the war in the Middle East!

COMING SOON
  • Aug. 5-7 Faith & Liberty Prayer Retreat is our annual private prayer retreat, as mentioned above. We set aside time to intercede for every one of our supporters — by name. Please submit your prayer requests by calling Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 or by emailing us at [email protected].
  • We will continue our night of prayer each month until the November election.
  • Pray for our members of Congress who are home in their districts until September 9. This somewhat quieter time on Capitol Hill will give us opportunities to meet and pray with congressional staffers.
  • Faith & Liberty is hosting the National Pro-Life Religious Council members at the Ministry Center as they plan for upcoming events.
  • Faith & Liberty will host the #Let Them Choose conference at the Ministry Center, which was moved to September. The Alliance for Israel Advocacy has asked members of Congress to address attendees about a plan for Gaza.

PRAYER

Pray for Faith & Liberty and the other ministries serving in our nation’s capital. One of them, Hope to the Hill, just suffered a great loss with its executive director, Nathan Kistler, losing his life in a devastating plane crash. Six others died in the crash, and we enlist your prayers for their families as well.

Pray that God would turn the hearts of our nation’s leaders to follow His ways.

Pray for protection for all candidates and for the integrity of elections across America.

Pray for all who attend our Bible studies, that God’s Word would bear spiritual fruit in their lives.

Pray for the interns who have headed home as they process their experience in Washington and consider their future.

Pray for each staff member, donor, and volunteer supporting the ministry of Faith & Liberty, that God would meet their needs and be glorified in their lives.
