Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Jul 8, 2024

Do you ever find yourself anxious after watching the news or discussing politics with friends? Here in Washington, the heart of our federal government, there are times we feel the gravity of decisions made or wonder about the future of our country. Has America become unmoored from its founding principles?

This is when we must reassure ourselves. Our sovereign God is well aware of our nation’s past, present, and future. Nothing will take Him by surprise!

Leaning on our Heavenly Father, we commit to Him every petition, every burden, every cry of the heart, all the while giving thanks because we know He does not withhold any good thing from His children.

In the coming days, we will have a special emphasis on prayer. We will host a prayer night monthly at our Ministry Center until the November election. Also, our Monday morning Bible study participants have decided to fully focus on prayer for a season instead of study.

We leave you with Psalm 145:18-20, a truly reassuring passage:

The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

MONDAY RECAP

It was quiet last week around the Independence Day holiday, so we look back here on some recent enjoyable times.

COMING SOON
  • Peggy Nienaber will participate in the Taste of the Nations contest this Friday. We’ll fellowship with congressional staffers and interns while feasting on some great international food.
  • This Saturday, Peggy will join the Minute to Win It-style small group Olympics, while also connecting with staffers and interns.
  • As mentioned above, we will have a night of prayer monthly until the election this November. Normally this would be our worship night, but our focus will be on prayer at this critical time in our nation.
  • We expect Rock Wednesdays to meet early in the morning before staffers head to work, but not only on Wednesday. We’ll soon be able to use the new Interfaith Staff Prayer Room in the Cannon House Office Building, and we'll be able to meet more frequently.
  • Patty Bills continues to meet weekly with the local women’s sewing group who are working on our new Live Nativity costumes. They are designing and sewing each of these elaborate costumes by hand. We are so excited!
  • Prayer Retreat: Our Faith & Liberty team takes an annual private prayer retreat, which will be the first week of August. During this time, we look to the Lord to guide and strengthen us for this strategic work for His glory and honor. We also set aside time to intercede for every one of our supporters — by name. Please submit your prayer requests by calling Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 or by emailing us at [email protected].
