Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Jun 10, 2024

Our nation — and our world — seem to be going through significant upheaval. What we see in the news should send all of us to our knees. It’s an all-hands-on-deck moment in the spiritual battles we face in America!

At Faith & Liberty, we believe God raised up America to be a beacon of light for the world. Our ministry is “Transforming Lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital.” Although much of what we do cannot be broadcast to the public (because ministry is offered in confidence), we are speaking into the lives of individuals who work at various levels of government in Washington.

Be sure to note the prayer points at the end of this weekly newsletter to fuel your prayers for our ministry and staff. We need and appreciate your lifting our requests to the Lord!

We thank you, most of all, for those ongoing prayers as well as for your financial support to sustain this ministry on Capitol Hill!

MONDAY RECAP

Peggy Nienaber attended the annual “Jerusalem Day” on Tuesday with supporters Tony and Deborah Summerlin.  They had an opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx afterward. This day was a special gathering on Capitol Hill with members of Congress, the bipartisan Congressional Israel Allies Caucus, and members of the Israeli Knesset as the group expressed support for a united Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the State of Israel. Congressman Ronny Jackson was one of many members who spoke at the Jerusalem Day event.

Peggy Nienaber, Patty Bills, and Tony and Deborah Summerlin, who are wonderful friends of the ministry, attended several events at the U.S. Supreme Court commemorating 50 years of the Supreme Court Historical Society. On Monday, a guided tour behind the scenes of the Court was followed by a lecture that featured the world premiere of HOLMES, a film based on the groundbreaking play on Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Later in the evening Peggy and Patty, along with the Summerlins, also attended the Annual Dinner: Commemorating 50 years of the Supreme Court Historical Society. It was a lovely evening meeting many guests.

Last week, Peggy attended the Senate Pro-Life Caucus Hearing that focused on two pro-life arguments heard recently at the Supreme Court. Rulings from the Court are expected at the end of June.

New breakfast Bible Studies started this week. We appreciate those who get up early to start their day with God’s Word!

COMING SOON

Wednesday afternoon there will be an ice cream party on Capitol Hill! The 40th Ice Cream Social is an annual tradition for members of Congress, their families, Capitol Hill staff, and special guests, and is a fun time to network with those who work on the Hill.

The interns will get together on Wednesday to enjoy fun and fellowship at a Washington Nationals baseball game.

Peggy Nienaber plans to lead her team of interns as captain this Saturday at the annual Wiffle ball tournament.

PRAYER

Thank the Lord for the connections He has allowed Faith & Liberty to foster through our years on Capitol Hill.

Pray that God would continue to lead us into “divine appointments” with leaders on the Hill. Go before us, Lord.

Give us guidance, Lord, as we collaborate with other ministries to do the work to which you have called us.

Pray for more individuals and churches to commit to pray and support our strategic ministry on Capitol Hill.

Pray for good health and stamina for the Faith & Liberty staff members.

Pray for the current and future leaders of our nation, that they would humbly seek the Lord for wisdom as they lead.

Pray for our country, for truth to prevail, and for free and fair elections across America.

Thank the Lord for His mercy and grace bestowed upon our nation.
