Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Mar 18, 2024

Faith & Liberty will be on Capitol Hill this week hosting a table at the House Chaplain’s 2nd Annual Hill Ministry & Faith Fair in the historic Cannon House. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with anyone who works on the Hill who wants to learn about the spiritual opportunities available to them.

But we also should remember that this is an interfaith event. Churches and ministries of all religious persuasions will be participating, so we ask: Will you pray with us that Faith & Liberty (and other Bible-based ministries) will stand out in this crowd of spiritual offerings? And will you pray that the Holy Spirit will lead us to His divine appointments for our ministry?

We ask for this not to exalt our own ministry, but we want to meet those whom we can best help on their faith journey. As we pray together for God’s leading, we know He will go before us in all our comings and goings just as He did with the Apostle Paul.

When Paul planned to visit Spain on his way to Rome, he said, “I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ” (Rom. 15:29). We also want Faith & Liberty to be “the blessing of Christ” on Capitol Hill.

We are grateful for your prayers for all we do, and we pray for you too! Thank you also for your giving to sustain our vital ministry on Capitol Hill.

The Lord bless and keep you today in all of your comings and goings!

THE MONDAY RECAP
  • The Student Missionary group from First Baptist, Houston, Texas, visited with Peggy Nienaber and learned what our team does day to day in Washington, D.C. The group volunteered during the week at a local pregnancy resource center and at King’s Church DC.

  • The First Baptist students assisted in preparing Faith & Liberty bags to distribute for the Ministry Fair this coming week. They also tested out the popcorn machine that our staff will be using during the fair — the results were delicious! The Faith & Liberty team will be at the Congressional Ministry Fair handing out popcorn and information about coming events and Bible studies.

  • The Monday Club Bible Study continued in the book of John. The Women’s Bible Study concluded, but we are preparing for two more Bible studies to start in April.

COMING SOON
  • The 2nd Annual Hill Ministry & Faith Fair will be held this Thursday, March 21, at the Cannon House Office Building. Over 300 congressional staffers and members of Congress are expected to attend this midday event organized by House Chaplain Margaret Kibben. Faith & Liberty will be among the many local churches and ministries participating. We will host a table and be present to share about our ministry’s events and opportunities.
  • Peggy and Patty will be attending the Values Action Team Summit Reception hosted by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson this week.
  • Peggy Nienaber has a meeting scheduled with Matthias Walter, the new chief marketing officer at the Museum of the Bible.
  • Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber will meet this week with visitors from Aglow International who are coming to pray for our Faith & Liberty team.
  • Faith & Liberty will host the Congressional Bible Reading on Wednesday,   April 17, for members of Congress to read from the Bible in the U.S. Capitol.
  • The U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon will start Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m., and continue for 90 hours on the west plaza of the U.S. Capitol.
  • The annual Rooftop Prayer event will be held in late April. Praise the Lord we were granted a prime location! On this day, we join with key leaders to praise our great God and pray for the needs of our capital — Washington, D.C.
  • Faith & Liberty will co-host a women’s fellowship event in April. The women will enjoy time together around the activity of painting ceramics.

PRAYER

Pray for the two new Bible studies starting in April, for all the logistics to come together and for God to draw those He wants to attend.

Thank the Lord for the Aglow team who visit us regularly to intercede for us and our ministry. Pray that the Lord would raise up even greater prayer support for Faith & Liberty.

Pray that all of the details would come into focus for the two Bible reading events and for the Rooftop prayer event, which are all happening in April.

Thank the Lord for local churches that work in conjunction with Faith & Liberty. We’re all in this together!

Pray for God’s continued protection for our Ministry Center, and that He would use this special place as a haven of rest.

Pray that the leaders of our nation would humble themselves in the fear of the Lord and glorify His name above all names.
