Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Mar 11, 2024

Since our last Monday Report, we heard the State of the Union address. Although there were a few points of agreement, it is evident that our nation’s leaders are greatly divided over the future of our country and what that means. It was clear that some wish to take our country down the road to a different kind of freedom than the freedom to which we subscribe.

When we speak of freedom, or liberty — which is so important to us that it’s part of our ministry’s name — we are not speaking of “reproductive freedom” to end the lives of babies in the womb.

We, too, want a future for all Americans, and we consider ending the blight of abortion one of our most significant causes. We pray continually and support the efforts of those who believe in the right to life, especially for those who have no voice.

Thank you for supporting us in every way you can as we stand for the future of America — a future our Creator God can indeed bless.

On another note, if you’re not connected with us through our Facebook page, click here to follow our Faith & Liberty page. Occasionally we do short videos to brief you on what’s happening in Washington and how you can pray. It’s another way to stay tuned in to our nation’s needs and to bring specific matters of concern to the Lord in prayer.

We appreciate you!

THE MONDAY RECAP
  • This past week, 23 Cedarville University students volunteered with various ministries, including a pro-life clinic on Capitol Hill.

  • They were also able to meet with U.S. Senate Chaplain Barry Black and U.S. House of Representatives Chaplain Margaret Kibben, who spoke about their day-to-day ministry and how Faith & Liberty has been able to assist with ministering to over 18,000 people in the U.S. Capitol complex.

  • The students also met with and heard from Jonathan Alexandre who shared of the work that Liberty Counsel is involved in on Capitol Hill and the United States.

  • Peggy Nienaber shared about the ministry of Faith & Liberty, and the students had an opportunity to visit some offices to hand out blessing cards and pray.

  • Tim Goeglein of Focus on the Family also spoke to the students about current issues of concern in our nation’s capital.

  • The students participated in the Monday Bible Study as we started in the Gospel of John.

  • Peggy Nienaber met with some new congressional staffers on the Hill, which afforded her the opportunity to invite them to church services and other events.

COMING SOON
  • The Ministry Fair is slated for Thursday, March 21. Over 300 congressional staffers and members of Congress are expected to attend this event organized by House Chaplain Margaret Kibben. Faith & Liberty will host a table and be present to share about our ministry.

  • U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon will start Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m., and continue for 90 hours on the west plaza of the U.S. Capitol.

  • We will also be hosting the Congressional Bible Reading on Wednesday, April 17. Details to come!

  • The annual Rooftop Prayer event will be held in late April. (Please see our prayer point below for more details.)

PRAYER

Pray that the leaders of our country would acknowledge the Lord in all their ways.

Pray for divine appointments for our Faith & Liberty team with members of Congress, key leaders, staffers, interns, and supporters of this ministry. We rely on God to go before us!

Pray that the Congressional Bible Study will draw more members and staffers and support those who come with hearts for the Lord.

Pray that our many Bible studies in our Ministry Center and across D.C. will bear spiritual fruit in souls saved and discipled in the faith.

Pray for a rooftop location here in Washington for the annual Rooftop Prayer event in late April. We have been inquiring about a particular location, so please pray with us that it will soon be secured, or if the Lord wills, that another place of His choosing will be made known to us. This is part of Rooftop Prayer times going on the same day around the world.

As the Cedarville University students leave the capital, pray that they will continue to seek the Lord for His direction for their future. They were a blessing to us!
