Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Feb 26, 2024

The battle over when life begins heated up again with the recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling on in vitro fertilization (IVF). National media outlets are getting into the fray, and social media has pitted opposing sides against each other over this decision. Congress is also proposing several IVF-related bills in response.

In times like these, it becomes evident that Christians are indeed on the front lines of spiritual battle. When we stand for the truth of God’s Word and what it has to say about life, family, and freedom, we counter the anti-God, humanistic ideologies and the religion of self.

Here in our nation’s capital, we know we must equip ourselves to be effective in ministry. We are not unaware of who our enemy is — and we remind ourselves that it is not the people we disagree with, for we do not fight against flesh and blood, but in the Spirit (Eph. 6:12).

We don’t fight the same way as the world.

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:3-4).

We want to be like Caleb who still stands out as an example of how to follow God wholeheartedly and believe for new ground.

"But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it" (Numbers 14:24).

Pray with us: Lord, help us to follow you fully, be filled with your Spirit, and advance in the battle for souls and for America.

Thank you for standing with Faith & Liberty on the front lines of this spiritual battle!

THE MONDAY RECAP
  • Peggy Nienaber met Tuesday with Salvation Army Commissioner Jolene Hodder. Peggy and Jolene received the Congressional Christian Women of Distinction honors in 2021 along with eight other women. Peggy was able to tour the Salvation Army headquarters, learn about the ministry, and share about Faith & Liberty’s programs and events on Capitol Hill.

  • Peggy was selected as a candidate for the Volunteer Chaplain Corps for the United States Capitol Police. She attended the first meeting at the Fairchild Building on Capitol Hill. Volunteer chaplains serve as an emotional and spiritual support to the police.

  • Friends from Aglow International visited our Ministry Center last week to pray for Faith & Liberty. We are thankful for their steadfast prayers on our behalf!

COMING SOON
  • Our Congressional Bible Study meets tomorrow.

  • Peggy has scheduled a few individual meetings with members of Congress.

  • We will have a prayer night at the Ministry Center this week.

  • Twenty-three Cedar University students arrive this weekend, and they will be volunteering with various ministries on Capitol Hill next week. We are planning a prayer walk with them for Thursday, March 7, the day of the State of the Union address.

  • We continue our preparations for the Ministry Fair next month. Over 300 congressional staffers and Members of Congress are expected to attend this event organized by U.S. House Chaplain Margaret Kibben.

PRAYER

Praise God for 22 young people who chose to join an area church here yesterday and for others who were baptized. We are thankful that God is moving in younger generations across the country!

Pray for significant conversations as we minister to members of Congress in individual meetings.

Pray that the Congressional Bible Study will draw some who have never attended and that God’s Word will go forth in power.

Pray that our Bible studies will bear spiritual fruit in souls saved and discipled in the faith.

Pray that many will come to seek the Lord together at our prayer time this Thursday.

Pray for a rooftop location here in Washington for the annual Rooftop Prayer event in late April, so the time is short. We are working on a couple of possibilities!

Pray for all those in authority in our federal government and that they will acknowledge God’s will and His ways.
