Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Feb 5, 2024
This past week we had a strong emphasis on prayer here in our nation’s capital. When government and faith leaders humble themselves before God and repent at a time when our nation is deeply divided, we sense His presence among us. Members of Congress were prayed over at the National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance at the Museum of the Bible. This spirit of humility and honor continued throughout the week at other events we participated in, including the U.S. Congressional Prayer time and the Christian Embassy’s International Prayer Breakfast.
We are thankful that Faith & Liberty has an ongoing role in bringing prayer to the forefront among our leaders on Capitol Hill. Let us continually pray for our nation for wisdom and a path forward into a future that honors God above all.
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (I Tim. 2:1-4).

THE MONDAY RECAP
Peggy Nienaber attended the National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance at the Museum of the Bible on Wednesday, January 31, the National Day of Prayer. Members of the Congress and members of Parliament from various nations came along with evangelical leaders and intercessors.
Peggy meets with Pastor Anwar Mash and his wife, Nida, from Pakistan during the Christian Embassy prayer breakfast.
This week is Rock Wednesday, our monthly prayer time on Capitol Hill. We are thankful for the privilege to lead this special time and for those who come to pray as we acknowledge God in all our ways, according to Proverbs 3:6.
Thursday, the Supreme Court will take the case on January 6. Capitol Hill will be alive and active! Many prayer teams will be in front of the supreme court during the oral arguments.
On March 21, Faith & Liberty will participate in the Congressional Ministry Fair sponsored by the U.S. House Chaplain Margaret Kibben. This will be an opportunity to connect with members of Congress, congressional staffers and other employees on Capitol Hill.
The U.S. Capital Bible Reading Marathon is in process for April. We are also planning to host a Congressional Bible Reading for the second time in the U.S. Capitol.
Continue with us in a spirit of prayer for our nation:
Thank the Lord for government leaders who seek His wisdom as they serve.
Pray that Judges and Justices in our court system would make righteous decisions.
Pray that faith, family, and life would be upheld in our nation.
Pray that Faith & Liberty would make a difference as we minister in our nation’s capital.
Pray that America would fulfill her destiny as the “land of the free and the home of the brave."
