Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Faith & Liberty will host “Prayers & Remembrance: Victims of Roe” on the west side of the U.S. Supreme Court at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 22.
During this prayer vigil, participants will place 3,000 flowers on the sidewalk in front of the High Court in honor of the of approximate number of American babies who are aborted every day. Speakers will offer reflection, prayers and/or Bible verses to honor the sanctity of human life.
January 22 is designated as the National Sanctity of Human Life Day and this year marks the 51st year since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the infamous abortion opinions Roe v. Wade, along with its companion case Doe v. Bolton, which opened the doors in 1973 to killing pre-born babies for any reason and at any stage of development. Since that tragic day in 1973, more than 64 million innocent children have been brutally killed by abortion.
When the U.S. Supreme Court finally overturned the Roe v. Wade and the 1992 Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey abortion decisions on June 24, 2022, the battle moved to individual states and intensified. Currently, at least 18 states have passed near-total abortion bans.
However, America must never forget the millions of children who have died, and will continue to die, at the hands of abortionists.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. Part of the proclamation states: “I call upon the citizens of this blessed land to gather on that day in homes and places of worship to give thanks for the gift of life, and to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of each human life.”
Faith & Liberty Senior Vice President Peggy Nienaber said, “January 22 will always be a tragic day in American history. We cannot escape the consequences of this human genocide unless we stop the slaughter and repent of this terrible sin. Abortion is rebellion against God, the author of human life. Abortion kills innocent children and destroys the dignity of women. We will continue fighting the battle to make the womb a safe place again.”|
