Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Dec 30, 2023
The desire for a life of service in the federal government draws hundreds of college students to serve as interns on Capitol Hill each year. Faith & Liberty is, by God’s design, in a strategic place to minister to these interns — and many welcome us into their lives. We rejoice that God is using us to help guide these young people. Amazing conversations can happen over one-on-one coffee chats or during a night out as a group watching the Washington Nationals beat their opponent on the field (hopefully!).
What concerns are on the hearts of these young people? They are in that special season of life where decisions are made that will set the course of their life in the future. Will they choose a commitment to a government or legal career or something else altogether? Do they see themselves running for office someday, and how will they prepare for a life of public service? Is marriage around the corner? Do they want a family of their own? Are they committed to faith in Christ as their Savior and Lord, or what’s stopping them from fully following Him? What do they really believe about the Bible, and where does church fit into their lives?
These questions and more permeate the thoughts of the interns we encounter. If they follow Christ — and many have — they will have to wrestle with political and social issues that have waylaid many in their generation: abortion, LGBTQ/transgenderism, racism, suicide and mental health, climate change … and more.
In our nation’s capital, Interns come and go, but many have endeared themselves to us and hold a special place in our hearts. We continue praying for those who have left and those who will come, that the ministry of Faith & Liberty might have an ongoing impact on their lives. Although we haven’t stopped to count how many we have connected with over the years, the Lord knows, and He has them in His care.
Do you have a heart for young people? Are you concerned about these potential future leaders of America? Will you support Faith & Liberty in our vital mission to reach these young interns at this critical stage of life?
Any gift given between today and the end of the year will be DOUBLED by a Year-End Challenge Grant. Will you make a generous year-end donation to support the vital mission of Faith & Liberty today? Any gift to Faith & Liberty by midnight your time, Dec. 31, will DOUBLE in impact. Thank you and God bless you for your prayers and financial generosity for the gospel’s sake!
