Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Oct 16, 2023

With all that is occurring in Israel and other hot spots around the world, we could be lying awake at night wondering what will happen next and how it will affect us. When we do wake in the middle of the night, it’s good practice to ask the Lord how we should pray. Is there something on your heart, Lord, that should be a prayer on my lips?

Isaiah 26:3 comes to mind:

“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”

Another version says it this way:

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

Lord, let our trust be fully in you on Capitol Hill, in America, in Israel, and around the world. Grant your people peace as we trust wholly in You.

Thank you for praying with and supporting us in our vital mission on Capitol Hill. We are grateful!

MONDAY RECAP

The Faith & Liberty team took a group to the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., to pray for the current situation in Israel. We laid red roses as a memorial for those Americans killed during the recent attacks.  Both Peggy Nienaber and Jonathan Alexandre offered prayers during a live broadcast on our social media platforms. If you would like to watch the broadcast, click here.

Last week Peggy Nienaber and Jonathan Alexandre met with Minister of Economic Affairs Noach Hacker from the Israeli Embassy in Washington to discuss the situation at hand. We prayed for him and those affected by these vicious terrorist attacks.

Peggy participated with Capitol Hill interns in the “Potato Cook Off Contest.” This festive event was an excellent way to connect and fellowship with these young men and women who work on the Hill.

COMING SOON
  • The Hill Ministry meets this week, drawing together various ministries that work on Capitol Hill to share what we each are working on and see what we can pray for and how we can cooperate as we serve in the nation’s capital.

  • Peggy Nienaber will be attending a Conservative Partnership Institute event this week and will participate in prayer for Israel. Jonathan Alexandre will be one of the speakers offering a prayer for the Israel people.

  • Rock Wednesday, our monthly prayer time, will take place this week. Pray that many would come to acknowledge the Lord in all they do and for Peggy as she facilitates this special time of prayer and praise.

  • Our Bible studies are drawing many interns and congressional staffers into life-changing conversation as they study God’s Word together. Our Capitol Hill Bible study will meet this Friday.

  • Our Ministry Center will be tidied up spick and span this Saturday as congressional staffers participate in a service day and have volunteered to clean our building. We are thankful!

  • On Wednesday, Nov. 1, Faith & Liberty will participate in the National Prayer Altar, a live in-person and online event at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. We will join Christians of various ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and church denominations to unify and pray for America.

  • December's Live Nativity will take place Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. Please pray about the volunteers, costumes, and paperwork for permits for this special event sharing the gospel story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER

Join us in prayer:

  • That leaders in America in all levels of government would come to the Lord and walk in His ways.

  • That Christians across the country would unite in prayer, according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, and that our land would be healed.

  • That antisemitism would be suppressed and that there would be minimal loss of life in the war in the Middle East.

  • That Faith & Liberty would bear fruit for the gospel on Capitol Hill and that God’s Word will go forth in power through our many Bible studies.

  • That God would guide us as we seek divine appointments to speak to anyone He wills.

  • That He would continue to provide in every way for the needs of our ministry.
