HR 15 Will Spread This Social Contagion of Lies

Oct 6, 2023

The removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the U.S. House could present a risk that the Equality Act could pass. No matter your view of McCarthy, he maintained 100% Republican opposition to HR 15. However, now that Republicans are focused on choosing new leadership and swamped with budget negotiations, this encourages the “Wild West” style of negotiation happening now.

We are concerned that two of the three remaining top leaders in the House have previously supported Democrat bills attacking marriage. Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) voted for the Equality Act itself in 2019. In 2021, she supported the LGBTQ “Bill of Rights.” And in 2022, House Whip Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) voted for the misnamed “Respect for Marriage” bill.

The House is the best place to stop HR 15, but if just six Republicans cave, it can pass. This bill would lead to harm for suicidal girls like Heather. It will limit their ability to grow and blossom, which we’ll share below. Please rush your urgent faxes to Congress to stop Republicans from caving to HR 15 and block this bill. — Your Faith & Liberty team

Heather is a girl who “was so intent on ending her life that she’d tried to drown, hang, and immolate herself. During one of her multiple psychiatric hospitalizations, Heather befriended a girl who identified as a boy. The relationship became so intense that staff considered it unhealthy and separated them. Soon after, Heather announced she was 'Harry, they/them.’”

But this time, Heather’s parents got involved. She was placed in an intensive care unit that affirmed her biological gender and name.

She attended many therapy sessions, and within a few months, the “Harry” persona faded away. She was able to back down from five medications to one and return to school in the fall.

But despite multiple direct communications from her parents that the school was not to use or encourage transgenderism, Heather’s parents found out from another parent that “Harry” was using the boy’s bathroom.

The school was caught having “secretly facilitated Heather's social transition.” Even when the parents confronted the school, it would not stop calling Heather “Harry.” Only when expert Dr. Miriam Grossman and a mince-no-words letter from multiple attorneys addressed the issue did the school change its tune.

Heather was spared life-altering drugs, mutilating surgeries, and the resulting long list of permanent side effects because of her parents’ understanding, love, and care.

However, many other children do not have support and professional help. If the Equality Act passes, this loving care will be outlawed by Congress, silenced by our courts, and even banned in our churches! It would force people like Heather to stay trapped in these lies.

Help kids navigate this crushing confusion. Send faxes immediately to help fight this outrageous bill.

Children are not capable of adequately making life-changing decisions. This is why children cannot be held to a contract, buy cigarettes or beer, or consent to medical treatment. Yet, the Equality Act will put children, commonly from at-risk homes or struggling with autism or acceptance, in charge.

And the damage this will cause is not just limited to children like Heather.

HR 15 will spread this social contagion of lies to our children and grandchildren.

STOP this bill from becoming law. We’re asking you to act now by faxing the House to oppose this outrageous bill and protect our freedom.

As we noted earlier, there is a lot of dust in the air in the U.S. House. This is a critical time to make sure members of Congress hear from you loud and clear to stop HR 15.

Thus far, we have been able to keep some of the less reliable Republican votes in line to not support HR 15. With the leadership shift, however, this could change for better or worse. Time will tell.

That is why we need your help to flood Congress with your faxes and petitions.

The Equality Act is the most radical LGBTQ and abortion bill ever proposed in Congress. The damage this will cause people like Heather is catastrophic. This bill will be used to silence employers, employees, counselors, parents, students, health care providers, schools, and anyone who can help those struggling with these emotions. We cannot allow gender-confused children like Heather to become bargaining chips for political leadership.

This is a critical moment. Instability can become an opportunity for the 212 Democrats to gain six more votes to pass HR 15.
