Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Aug 7, 2023
As we write this, we are on our annual Prayer Retreat. There is still time to send us your prayer requests so we can remember you and lay your concern before the Lord. We are praying by name for our supporters during this special time.
We are also praying for our nation. If you watch, listen or read the news, it can be disheartening right now, but we know our God is above the fray. He transcends politics and personalities. He is not directed by influence, social media or otherwise. Our God is sovereign. If you are weary of what you see in the news, go to Revelation 4 for a view of God's throne room. Day and night, the four living creatures in the presence of God never cease to cry out to the Lord God Almighty as they are amazed by His holiness (v. 8). And the 24 elders literally fall down in worship before Him, repeating (v. 11):
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”
The One on the throne is Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. We need not tremble or fear the future. We must honor and fear Him only. If we do, we cannot stay in fear of bad news. As children of God, we know where to place our trust.
Ponder this powerful verse with us today: “Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord GOD is the eternal Rock” (Isaiah 26:4).
Do we hear an Amen?

You are an important part of our ministry. Our supporters form the backbone of Faith & Liberty because of your prayerful and financial support. Please pray about becoming one of our vitally important monthly contributors. Sign up for monthly giving on our website using the DONATE button below and select the option, “I would like to make this a recurring donation.” You can also call and ask for Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776, and she will gladly assist you.
The Congressional intern sendoff was this past Saturday with fun on the National Mall, including cornhole, spikeball, a cookout, and many other activities. A new group of congressional interns will arrive at the end of August.
Congressional Bible studies have finished for the month of August. New Bible studies with new topics will begin the first week of September.
Preparation for December's Live Nativity has begun! The logistics and processing of permits require many documents to be submitted in order for our team to arrange the Live Nativity on Capitol Hill. Pray for the submission and positive outcome as we move forward in the planning of this yearly event.
The CHANGED Movement will once again make Faith & Liberty’s Ministry Center their home base the week of Sept. 19 when they come to minister on Capitol Hill. Not only will the team be educating members of Congress and their staff, but also ministering to those who are leaving the LGBTQ culture and identity and supporting those who are seeking to make a significant life change in the right direction for their future.
New Bible studies will start this month, and we always look forward to seeing what new faces we’ll see. We have approximately 22 Bible studies, many that meet in our Ministry Center and two that meet in a congressional building so that women members of Congress can attend.
Faith & Liberty will host a Fairness in Women’s Sports luncheon on Friday, Sept. 22. The focus of the event is men competing in women’s sports. We will have a panel discussion, and members of Congress and Olympic award-winning athletes will discuss this critical topic. We have invited members of the House and Senate, swimmer Riley Gaines (who has committed to speak), Olympic Gold and Silver track medalist Dr. Madeline Manning Mims, and Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America.
Faith & Liberty’s new hour of Prayer in the U.S. Capitol is open to anyone working in congressional offices. This will start in September and continue each month. Peggy Nienaber will host and lead the prayers during this time.
Faith & Liberty is planning for September’s U.S. Capitol Police Officer of the Year Recognition Breakfast. This event gives us an opportunity to share the gospel and acknowledge those who keep us safe on Capitol Hill.
Pray for both a fruitful and restful annual prayer retreat for the Faith & Liberty team today through Wednesday. Pray for continued guidance for all that we are planning for ministry in the coming year.
The new congressional interns arrive at the end of this month. Help us pray for these young adults as they complete their schooling and make decisions regarding their future. We pray that these interns have the strength and determination to follow God in their personal and professional lives and not be led astray by the culture.
Pray for every detail to be handled as we submit our documents for the Live Nativity on Capitol Hill. Pray that permission will be granted in a timely way for this special event with live animals, that churches will support this event, and that volunteers will sign up soon to participate.
Pray for our nation at this difficult time amid investigations and inquiries at the highest level of government and ahead of the next presidential election. Pray that wisdom and truth will prevail. May God guide each of us as we pray for America and as we vote.
