Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Jul 17, 2023
As Americans, we may think it’s a badge of honor to have a full schedule and to have to hurry to and fro to keep up with the demands on our time. But when your calendar looks like the schedule for Grand Central Station, you might ask: Is this the way God wants me to live? In ministry, we’re often beset by the here-a-meeting, there-a-meeting attitude because, after all, we have a high calling and a commission from Jesus Himself!
But even Jesus knew when to slow down and spend time with just a few disciples or go off to a solitary place to fellowship with His Father, receive direction about an important decision, or engage in spiritual battle as led by the Spirit of God.
For Faith & Liberty, it’s that time of year that we take some time to come away from our very active schedules. We’ve set aside time for our staff members to fellowship with our Heavenly Father and enjoy His presence. We’ll meditate on the Word of God, not for the purpose of leading others as we do in Bible studies, but to hear from God for ourselves and our ministry. And we’ll fellowship with each other as we are not always in the same place at the same time.
We’ll also intercede for our nation and leaders on Capitol Hill as well as the interns and staffers who are seeking to grow into those key roles in the future.
We’ll pray for you, too, as you have generously and faithfully supported us because you believe in our ministry and our vital mission in the nation’s capital. We are ever so grateful for you! Please join us in prayer for the needs we’ve listed below and click here to send us your prayer requests.

Our Faith & Liberty team takes an annual private prayer retreat, which will be the first week of August. During this time, we look to the Lord to guide and strengthen us for the strategic work to which He has called us, and we intentionally intercede for every one of our supporters — by name. Please submit your prayer requests by calling Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 or by emailing us at [email protected].
It’s also time for summer fun! Our athletic skills will be tested on Saturday in an upcoming tournament as we join congressional staffers and interns for Wiffle ball at West Potomac Park in Washington.
Peggy Nienaber was invited to participate in an Antisemitism briefing to be held in the Speaker’s dining room this Wednesday. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy will discuss the alarming numbers of antisemitism incidents happening in our world today. Members of Congress will also attend this briefing.
Pray that Faith & Liberty staff will honor and glorify God in all we do and say.
Pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading us each day as we interact with interns, congressional staffers, and leaders on Capitol Hill.
Praise the Lord for the many new believers we have seen come to Christ recently! Pray that they will be rooted and grounded in their faith and will be established in a local church.
Pray that many more will attend and grow our Bible studies on Capitol Hill and will choose to follow the Lord in their personal and professional lives.
Pray for the two Bible studies for women members of Congress and for guidance for Peggy as she leads them.
Thank the Lord for His protection over our Ministry Center property and over the Faith & Liberty staff members and their families.
Pray that our retreat in August will be a special time together of hearing from the Lord and resting in Him.
