Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Jul 4, 2023
As we celebrate the 4th of July, the day our Founders declared freedom from English oppression, it is imperative we fight to preserve our religious freedom secured by those who were willing to sacrifice their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. And that freedom is under direct assault.
Last week, an LGBTQ group hosted a “pride” parade in Washington, D.C., urging people to contact their legislators to pass the radical LGBTQ agenda. The U.S. House now has 212 Democrats (plus three Democrat delegates) who have already signed on to support HR 15, the so-called “Equality Act.” This is every Democrat in the House. From our experience, some Republicans bowed to the LGBTQ agenda (like Elise Stefanik who suddenly became the fourth-highest-ranking Republican in the U.S. House), and now this bill is dangerously close to passing. If this bill passes in the House, the chances of it also passing in the U.S. Senate are very high.
The bill’s main sponsor, Rep. Mark Takano, boasted: “I fully intend to pass a full-strength, undiluted Equality Act into law.”
HR 15 is not about equality — if it were, the bill would not expressly state that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act shall NOT be a defense! This is the most in-your-face attack on religious freedom to ever come out of Congress. If we let it out of the House, it will be even more difficult to stop in the Senate.
Please rush your urgent fax to Congress to stop Republicans from caving to HR 15 and block this bill. —Your Faith & Liberty team
Churches (and religious schools) must have the right to teach the next generation biblical values. Without this freedom, churches and schools close or go underground. Communistic countries relentlessly target churches to silence them. That is exactly what the “Equality Act” does.
Imagine your children at church or Christian school being taught by a male “drag queen,” and the church and school is powerless to say, “No, this violates our biblical beliefs!” Seem far-fetched? It’s not. An elementary teacher in Madison, WI, sent K-5 children a video telling the youngsters to no longer refer to him as “Mr.” From henceforth, they must refer to him as “Mx.” because he is “neither male nor female.” He says he is “both, and sometimes neither.”
If this person, who now goes by “Mx. Steele,” taught your children in your church or school, HR 15 would give him the legal right to do what he did in this public school. Resistance would result in lawsuits from both the attorney general and private individuals for “discrimination.”
The “Equality Act” will force churches and religious schools — Pre-K through college — to remain silent and submit.
Not only will churches and religious schools face costly lawsuits, but they’ll also lose tax exemption, and schools will lose accreditation. For most schools, especially colleges and universities, loss of accreditation is a death sentence. Remember the for-profit ITT Technical Institute? It closed after losing accreditation. With students unable to get student loans and not being able to go on to graduate school, the loss of accreditation is devastating.
The “Equality Act” will also force churches and religious organizations that perform marriage ceremonies to provide the facilities for same-sex ceremonies … or face crushing lawsuits.
Abuse shelters for women will be forced to allow men to sleep in the same rooms with women. Churches will be forced to allow boys to sleep with girls on overnight trips as well.
The “Equality Act” will affect everyone — including the individual working part time from home providing goods or services online. This is a massive expansion of the federal government.
Time is short and every vote counts.
Chris Weaver led “worship” at his “church” in New York called Zoe Ministries. Yet Chris would go straight from church to put on makeup and perform in drag as “Nedra Belle” at local specialized bars.
He even bragged to a reporter, “Listen, the children better be ready” for his drag queen performance as “Nedra Belle.”
If the “Equality Act” becomes law, trying to stop someone like Chris from performing in drag at your church or synagogue would be met with lawsuits, fines, loss of tax exemption, and more.
We have a very narrow window to stop this bill. I’m asking you to make your voice heard on Capitol Hill by sending a fax directly to the key decision-makers in Congress. They need to hear from you.
By the way, the Senate version states the “Q” in LGBTQ stands for “Queer.” This word covers the entire universe outside of LGBT — which means it includes “minor attracted individuals” (pedophilia). This is NOT an exaggeration! Every deviant behavior is covered by the “Q.”
Make no mistake, this Senate bill is a very real threat. It paints a huge target on the backs of everyone.
We are in contact with members of Congress to stop this bill. But we need your help. Join our Challenge Grant to DOUBLE the impact of your gift. Support Faith & Liberty today.
We are grateful for the privilege of serving you on Capitol Hill. Thank you for standing with us!
