From baseball to apple pie, all of the traditions that come with Independence Day cause us to reflect on America. We consider what our nation has stood for in the past and what it stands for today.
At Faith & Liberty, we value our nation’s founding documents — the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence, among them — and the ideals that birthed the United States of America. On the 4th, we celebrate the founding and pray that God blesses America, but also that America blesses God.
If we want a bright future for future generations, we must acknowledge Him in all our ways. Proverbs 3:5-6 is good counsel for the young (and the old):
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”
Will you join us in celebrating the good that God has done through America and ask that the people of America will acknowledge God in all their ways? We offer some suggested prayer points below for this Fourth of July holiday week.We know that one of the reasons God has strategically placed Faith & Liberty on Capitol Hill is to pour into the next generation of leaders, to be a witness for Christ and share the gospel with congressional interns and staffers and to establish them in their faith through Bible studies and mentoring activities. Thank you for supporting Faith & Liberty in this vital mission on Capitol Hill.
God bless you for standing with us!

THE MONDAY RECAP
- The Faith & Liberty team has been praying for the 303 Creative free speech case at the Supreme Court. We are thankful for the High Court’s decision last week allowing website designer Lorie Smith the freedom to decline business that does not reflect her Christian beliefs. This case celebrates freedom and will have an impact on other Christians in business.
- It has been a busy past few weeks with planning for the pro-life events during the Dobbs one-year anniversary. We continue to uphold in prayer members of Congress and other pro-life leaders as we move forward in the post-Roe movement.
- Prayer Retreat: Our Faith & Liberty team takes an annual private prayer retreat, which will be the first week of August. During this time, we look to the Lord to guide and strengthen us for the strategic work to which He has called us and we intentionally intercede for every one of our supporters — by name. Please submit your prayer requests by calling Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 or by emailing us at [email protected].
COMING SOON
- Congressional staffers and interns will get together to watch the D.C. Fireworks on the Fourth tomorrow night. It will be a special evening as we thank God for our freedom and fellowship at the same time.
- Summer also brings Wiffle ball as we plan for an upcoming tournament where many staffers and interns come together for some fun.
- An Intern Career Panel is scheduled for this week. Congressional staffers and others from Capitol Hill will share their walk of faith and experiences with the interns who are working this summer on Capitol Hill.
- Planning has begun for September’s U.S. Capitol Police Officer of the Year Award Breakfast.
PRAYER
During this Independence Day, we pray for America. Join with us as we intercede that:
- Those in authority at every level of government would acknowledge the Lord in all their ways.
- We would remain a free people, free to live out our faith.
- We would preserve the lives of the unborn and protect children in our nation.
- The family, as God designed it, would be preserved.
- Our military would adhere to the principles that made this nation great.
- Righteousness would prevail in public policy and in our court system.
- As Christians and Americans, each of us would do our part as responsible citizens to steward this great land.
