Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Jun 5, 2023

We continue to be amazed at our God and how He is using our ministry on Capitol Hill. We know the angels are rejoicing, and we join them in praise when we hear of the 10 young people giving their lives to the Lord in just one church on a single Sunday. These are people we have interacted with and expect to continue in fellowship with through our mentoring, activities, and/or Bible studies. God is moving through Faith & Liberty, and we are grateful!

This is also the month we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the monumental Dobbs decision that overturned the disastrous pro-abortion ruling in Roe v. Wade. We had to wait 50 years for the demise of Roe, but it finally happened. Despite the fact that some states still allow abortions and “abortion tourism” is becoming more prevalent, we thank God that because of the Dobbs ruling, many babies have been saved over this past year and many more will be saved in the months and years ahead. There is much to pray for in the cause of life, something we will certainly be doing as a part of our activities on June 23-24 (see below). Plan to participate if you are able. Let us know if you’re coming!

Finally, thank you so very much for your prayerful and generous support of Faith & Liberty. You are critical to our continued, effective ministry here on Capitol Hill.

THE MONDAY RECAP

  • More interns have arrived on Capitol Hill. Our outreach to assist them with becoming connected to Bible studies and small groups was through an event called ”Draft Day.” Each team leader will have a group of new interns to mentor and with whom the leaders can connect and pray. It was very exciting to have a great turnout for this event with over 60 new interns.

  • Ten new young adults gave their life to Christ on Sunday. Praise the Lord with us!

  • Peggy Nienaber recently met with the Shades Mountain Baptist Church youth mission group. They came to Washington, D.C., from Birmingham, Alabama, to learn about church planting along with ministry needs in our nation’s capital. They spent their time volunteering and talking with leaders and pastors to gain greater insight into what the needs are in the city.

  • Our Bible studies are filling up as congressional staffers and new interns look for spiritual nurture. Each group digs deep and examines various parts of God’s Word.

  • Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber participated in the first-ever Ministry & Faith Fair for those who work on Capitol Hill. It was held in the Cannon Caucus Room, and hundreds of interested staff visited our exhibit. The Faith & Liberty team was able to meet with congressional staff and invite them to our Bible studies and events held at the Ministry Center. The atmosphere at the event was welcoming and positive, and we look forward to participating again.

  • Patty Bills and Peggy Nienaber continue to prepare for the upcoming Life Reception and Fresh Start 4 Life kick-off breakfast with conference calls, personal outreach, and invitations.
Opportunities abound for congressional interns in Washington, D.C., for the summer. Contact our office and ask for Patty Bills if you want to learn more about upcoming events.

COMING SOON

  • Preparations are well underway for the upcoming events tied to the anniversary of the Dobbs opinion. There will be a Congressional Breakfast, a Life Reception for those attending events on Capitol Hill, and a Prayer & Worship Rally, which will be held on the west side of the U.S. Capitol.  If you are in Washington on June 23-24, you are invited to attend these events celebrating life. An RSVP, however, is required for the Congressional Breakfast and the Life Reception.

  • We are several months away from our annual Prayer Retreat, but it is never too early to send our staff prayer requests. We want to thank you for your support of Faith & Liberty’s ministry. Please know we are praying for you.

To stay informed on issues in Washington and play your part as a citizen and a Christian look for the Faith & Liberty emails throughout the week. We are in this fight together to defend and preserve those values and principles we all cherish.

PRAYER

Lord, we ask:

That the name of Jesus would be exalted through Faith & Liberty.

That many would choose to follow the Lord as we bear witness.

That we would be salt and light in our nation’s capital.

That we would be faithful to the Word.

That we would keep in step with the Spirit.

That God would grant us wisdom for the work.

That we would be good stewards.

That we would have good health and stamina to serve.
