Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Feb 13, 2023

After watching the State of the Union address last Tuesday night, we know that our prayers for life and liberty must prevail.

At Faith & Liberty, we stand in both prayer and action against the culture of death we find among many in our nation’s capital. We do not want to see Roe v. Wade restored or abortion (“reproductive health care,” as it is euphemistically called) upheld, and we celebrate the “extreme abortion bans” instituted by some states after the Supreme Court dismissed Roe.

We have a different view about how to “restore the soul of America.” We hold to Proverbs 14:34: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”

In a bipartisan Bible study in the Senate this past week, Chaplain Barry C. Black asked for prayer to unite this Congress and to respect life. He asked everyone to pray multiple times a day, even during grace before a meal, for life and unity. We know that prayer is the answer!

Although we disagree with some of our leaders, flesh and blood is not our enemy. Rather, our fight is “against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12).

We put our confidence in God to fight the battle for life and liberty. Won’t you stand with us at this critical time?

PRAYER

Pray that our nation’s leaders would acknowledge God in all their ways and look to Him for wisdom.

Pray for pro-life legislation to go into effect across the country, that babies will be saved from abortion and infanticide, and that families will be restored. We pray against the culture of death that has gripped so many on Capitol Hill and across our nation.

Pray that God would further expand our opportunities for us to be salt and light on Capitol Hill.

Pray for our new Congressional Women’s Bible Study, that it would keep increasing in attendance and that the women members would be built up in their faith in Christ.

Pray for more interns and staffers to come to know the Lord and grow in their faith through our Bible studies and other activities.
