House Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved the vote on HR 8404 from yesterday to TODAY.
This bill targets everyone. The current religious accommodation provision is extremely limited!
We have about 24 hours left to stop HR 8404. Tell as many members of the U.S. House as possible to block it. Fax the House and urge as many as possible to stop this attack! —Your Faith & Liberty team
YOU are the target of HR 8404. Unless you are a nonprofit religious organization “whose principal purpose is the study, practice, or advancement of religion,” you are the target. The LGBTQ lobby group Human Rights Campaign (HRC) did not oppose this amendment. Yet, HRC opposes all religious accommodations. That alone should tell you the intent of this bill.
Do we really want Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to be the arbiter of an organization’s “principal purpose”? That determination is critical.
Most nonprofits will not qualify. For-profits owned and operated by Christians will not qualify—even if their “principal purpose is the study, practice, or advancement of religion.”
The baker, florist, wedding coordinator, artist, printer and website designer are all the target. Children in schools and teachers are also the target. Elected officials are the target.
You are the target. And every attempt to fix this was blocked in the Senate when senators rejected three religious liberty amendments.
Urge the House to stop this perversion, delay this bill and do everything in their power to block HR 8404!
This bill would encourage frivolous lawsuits. Even if you win, the lawsuit is the punishment!
Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis (R) admitted she believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and said the LGBTQ lobby is vicious. But then she sold out your religious freedom, hoping the LGBTQ lobby would leave her alone. How naïve and foolish!
This bill weaponizes the DOJ and the LGBTQ political lobby to sue people who have different views on marriage. Already, some LGBTQ activists are saying they want more—calling the bill mere “crumbs” from the table. They will not be satisfied until your opposition is silenced and you become their cheerleader.
Remember Mordecai’s words to Esther? They apply here. Silence is not the answer, nor are cramped religious ghettos.
“Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13b-14)
We have an opportunity to stop this bill now before it’s too late.
Your voice is having an impact. We cannot guarantee we will win. But we can guarantee we will lose if we are complacent and remain silent.
In addition to the faxes, please consider a recurring monthly donation to support our vital ministry of prayer and action on Capitol Hill. YOUR IMPACT will be DOUBLED by a generous Challenge Grant.
As we get closer to the end of this momentous year, we want you to know how much we value you and how you have supported our ministry on Capitol Hill this year. Thank you for standing with us!
