URGENT: Join Us in Prayer to Stop This Bill Today!

Nov 16, 2022

A bipartisan group of five senators just claimed they have the votes they need to pass the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act coming to the floor today. But this might be just posturing to try to manipulate other senators.

Even if you have faxed before, we urge you to fax, call, email and even contact your friends, family and community members to urge them to help you fight against this bill right now! Forward this email TODAY.

Then join us in prayer to stop this bill. We have asked our staff members and intercessors to pray so that together we can stop this horrible bill.

This bill will unleash a whirlwind of federal agencies pushing this radical agenda into every area of American life, both nationally and internationally. This could be our last moment to block this bill. Please do everything in your power to fight it today.

Senate Republican leadership appears to be doing NOTHING to whip votes against this bill. It is up to you. Rush your urgent faxes to the Senate to block this attack on our nation, on our freedom and on marriage. —Your Faith & Liberty team

The so-called Respect for Marriage Act will give federal agencies massive authority over the personal lives of Americans. This bill will go so much further than what the U.S. Supreme Court’s Obergefell opinion did regarding same-sex marriage.

If HR 8404 passes, it will create a baseline public policy that both states and individuals will have to conform to.

Object to drag queens shoving their beliefs on your child or grandchild, even in private or religious schools? Too bad. This public policy will make you look like a bigot, much like if someone objected to having a person of color speak to the class. And it can punish you accordingly. LGBTQ will be placed in the same protected category as race and religion, yet we know these radicals will gleefully use it to destroy our religious freedom.

HR 8404 will force all federal agencies to leverage their authority and resources to do what Congress cannot do for the LGBTQ lobby. This bill would unleash the DOJ, FBI, DHS, DOE, IRS and so much more to crush our freedom.

We urgently need your help to STOP this bill right now! Tell senators to Vote NO on HR 8404.

In addition, this bill will deeply hurt people who have zero political clout, like Jean*. She was just 14 years old when she was forced to attend school during the day and work nights at the local Waffle House. Her father was not in the picture, and only later did she realize she was the result of an affair that her mother had hidden from her then-husband. “Most nights I could barely make it home I was so tired. We lived in a two-room garage,” Jean shared.

Unloved and uncared for, Jean caught the attention of a 26-year-old man. He would flirt with her each shift and offered to drive her home. Even when her family moved 10 miles away and she found a different job, he tracked her down and figured out how to help around her mother’s house.

"After a few months, my mother told me that I should marry him. She told me he would make sure I went to school and that he had agreed to annul the marriage or divorce me when I turned 18. She said she [Jean’s mother] would marry him if I didn’t. He was 27 years old; I was 15. The next thing I knew, I was on my way to the altar in a black suit appropriate for a funeral.”

Even on the “honeymoon,” Jean knew she had made a mistake, but she wasn’t allowed out of the marriage. She tried to run away, but her family returned her to her “husband” who moved her away from both family and friends so she had no one to turn to for help.

For the first time, I had a stable roof over my head and food to eat,” Jean says. “He was a big man and a bully. I caught him cheating on me several times, but I really didn’t care; it kept him off me. I felt trapped and at times didn’t want to live, but I had to think about my children.

However, now U.S. senators are making it easier for pedophiles to trap and abuse children like Jean in a relationship that would be illegal except for one piece of paper that reads “marriage license.” On some levels, this abuse is similar to the piece of paper enslaving one person to the other. These children cannot hold down a job, rent an apartment, get a lawyer, ask for a divorce or even take custody of their own children!

This is shocking and unacceptable. We need your help to hold senators accountable and hold the line against this bad bill.

The (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act is so close to passing! Our staff has been warning about this for months. Now the day has arrived. This bill might pass by just one vote IF we remain silent.

We are standing at a watershed moment in America, and we are on the front lines of this battle. We cannot be silent.

We know we have asked you before to respond on HR 8404. Many of you have done so. But we must continue to flood the Senate with faxes. We have been able to delay the vote thus far, but today is the day it is scheduled to come to the Senate floor. We cannot rest until HR 8404 is dead. We must not let up until we achieve victory!

Every senator must hear from you. WE NEED YOUR VOICE to send a strong message NOW because Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is pushing for a vote ASAP. STOP HR 8404 from becoming law with your urgent faxes to the Senate.

Our work is only possible with your support. And now our Challenge Grant will effectively DOUBLE YOUR DONATION. PLEASE, be a part of the blessing today by selecting here.

It is unthinkable to lose this battle today, but no matter what, we are committed to continue fighting.
