Many Floridians are reeling in the wake of Hurricane Ian. The images and stories are heartbreaking.  

Last night, I talked to a friend who has lived on Sanibel Island for many years. The water from the surge crashed through the first floor of his house. Today, he and friends took a barge to the island to remove some items from their home. Fortunately, the family evacuated, but now they have no home and have lost so much.

Military helicopters are airlifting vehicles to the island to assist first responders. Part of the bridge and sections of the causeway have been washed away. It will take years to rebuild.

Some buildings on Ft. Myers Beach were moved off their foundations and now sit on what used to be the highway. The power of this storm was astounding. The trajectory of Ian shifted from Tampa to southwest Florida shortly before it made landfall.

I know many other people personally who have suffered heavy loss and are in immediate need of help and hope in the days to come.

And if you’ve seen ANY of the aerial shots of the coast and inland areas, I know you’re as heartbroken as I am.

Officials are calling Hurricane Ian a 500-year storm event.

Liberty Relief International has partnered with quick-response disaster relief organizations to provide tangible help and hope to the worst-hit regions. Victims need your compassionate generosity immediately.

We want to minister to both the body and the soul. Unless you have lived through the terror of howling winds and rushing water, it is hard to describe the emotional trauma.
