It's Time to Hold the Line Against Perversion

Aug 11, 2022

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has already filed Rule 14 on HR 8404, which overrides states’ rights and undermines marriage. This bypasses all Senate committees and allows him to push this bill to the Senate floor for a full vote ANY TIME the floor is open.

This bill is NOT just a repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). No matter what the Supreme Court may do with its unconstitutional 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges marriage case, this bill will codify same-sex marriage AND ALSO allow one state, like California, to dictate marriage policy for EVERY state. And this includes child bride marriages.

In addition, HR 8404 empowers the U.S. attorney general and private individuals to sue anyone “under the color of law” that does not give “full faith and credit” to another state’s law. Even now the bill is not limited to “only two” people. Thus, one man could marry one woman in one state and another woman in a different state and then ask for both marriages to be recognized as polygamy or even polyamory (group marriage).

Senate Democrats need only 10 Republicans to pass this horrendous bill. Already, five Republican senators have publicly expressed that they will probably vote for it. In addition, 15 Republicans have indicated they are still undecided. But, because of your persistent pressure on them, some critical votes are not certain. They are hearing from you and must continue to hear your opposition.

This is a political stunt with disastrous consequences. As the bill is currently written, if just one state allowed incestuous marriage (e.g., between a father and daughter or mother and son), it would force all 49 states to recognize and respect that “marriage.” This is a Pandora’s Box. Rush your urgent faxes to every senator you can to block this bill. — Your Faith & Liberty team

In true Orwellian doublespeak, HR 8404 is called the “Respect for Marriage Act,” but nothing could be further from the truth! This bill is a serious attack on marriage and on states’ rights. In just four pages, it destroys marriage and states’ rights.

This bill will push same-sex marriage into every state even if the 2015 Obergefell decision is overturned. Any definition of “marriage” that any state can dream up must be respected in all 50 states!

Already, five Republican senators have indicated they will support this bill, including Rob Portman (OH), Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Thom Tillis (NC) and Ron Johnson (R-WI).

Fifteen senators say they are “undecided” when questioned, stating they have not yet reviewed the bill.

These undecided senators and others must hear from you. WE NEED YOUR VOICE to send a strong message NOW because Chuck Schumer is pushing for a vote. STOP this bill from becoming law with your urgent faxes to the U.S. Senate.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD) is the second-highest-ranking GOP leader in the Senate. “As you saw, there was a fairly significant vote—bipartisan vote—last night in the House of Representatives,” Thune said as the bill reached the Senate. “And I would not be surprised if that were the case in the Senate.”

When this bill passed the House, it had a total of 47 Republicans voting FOR it! However, many of these members now regret their vote because they are feeling the heat. We must tell the senators loud and clear to vote against HR 8404. While we cannot share details, we can say that your pushback is making a difference.

We need to hold their feet to the fire and remind every senator to hold the line against this perversion of marriage. Vote NO on HR 8404.

This goes far beyond destroying marriage—it will also override religious freedom!

In his capacity as founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, our chairman, Mat Staver, represents Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who was jailed for not signing her own name on homosexual “marriage” licenses. Kentucky now has a law unanimously passed by Democrats and Republicans to accommodate clerks who request religious accommodation for sanctioning same-sex marriage. But this federal bill will override this law and force clerks to violate their faith!

Rush your urgent faxes to the Senate to block this bill.

Do you want one or two states like California or New York to impose their version of “marriage” on the other states? We do not. But that is exactly what this bill will do. And it has no religious accommodation requirement.

This bill will force ALL states to bow—not just to federal mandates on marriage—but now to all other states’ mandates as well!

If this bill passes, it will make each state subservient to all 49 other states and territories. If it passes, when just one state or territory recognizes any kind of perversion of “marriage,” then all must honor that as well!

Make no mistake about where this bill will end up. The goal is to abolish marriage by deconstructing it. If this bill is passed, a minor amendment of “2” parties to a marriage will force polygamy and polyamory on the states!

We must block this bill, and the time is short.

Send your faxes to the Senate urging them to stop this from attacking marriage and overriding states’ rights.
