Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

May 9, 2022

With all that’s been happening at the Supreme Court—and within walking distance of our Ministry Center—we need your focused prayers.

If you are following the news, you know about the draft opinion on the Dobbs abortion case that was leaked to the public. We praise the Lord as the decision is favorable to the pro-life cause, but it still must be officially announced. We pray that the Justices who took a pro-life stance will not succumb to the tremendous pressure to reverse their opinion, which is expected to overturn Roe v. Wade.

You also may know that protests have ramped up at the Court and at the Justices’ homes. Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the opinion, has been moved to an undisclosed location for his safety. As we pray for the outcome of this case, we need to also pray against any attempts to harm any of the Justices or their family members.

Monday night, we prayed as we walked through the protesting crowd, which ramped up quickly after the opinion was leaked. At that protest, we saw some demonic activity and we immediately left the area. The one who seeks to steal, kill and destroy America’s children is working overtime!

But the same day this chaos broke out we had an amazing victory—a rare 9-0 Supreme Court win in Shurtleff v. City of Boston Christian flag case, which was argued by our chairman, Mat Staver, at the Court in January. We got word of this win during the day, and chaos broke out at the Court that very evening. As a result, the fences are back up, and streets have been closed around the Court and in front of the Ministry Center.

In light of all this, we thank you for your continued prayers and support for our ministry on the front lines of freedom!

For America's Future,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

MONDAY RECAP

  • Along with our Supreme Court win, we rejoice that the Word of God was read for five days straight from cover to cover. Over 225 readers participated in the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, which we hosted at our Ministry Center. Peggy also was able to do several interviews on KLFC Radio during the marathon. The Faith & Liberty Team also hosted a dinner for all the volunteers.
  • We participated in meetings with Chaplains Dr. Barry Black (Senate) and Dr. Margaret Kibben (House). Being in this “inner circle” is a very important part of our ministry outreach to top government officials in Washington, D.C. We met with these chaplains to check in, reflect on the issues at hand and pray.

  • The Faith & Liberty team went up to one of Capitol Hill’s rooftops for Rooftop Encounter prayer. We asked God to help us to see the city and where to expand our ministry in D.C., to guide us and give us a vision for the future. The Rooftop Encounter takes its name from the account of Peter on a rooftop in Acts 10. God wants us to take the gospel outside our walls to those who do not know Him. Together with many others who attended, we sensed a fresh vision from God of the focus of our work.

  • While our Bible studies were still held at the Ministry Center during the Bible Reading Marathon, they were moved to the third floor. The Bible reading and connecting with readers/supporters took place on the first floor, so we did some rearranging to accommodate everyone! Our Ministry Center was filled on each floor with God’s Word being read, studied and praising.

COMING SOON
  • Rally for Life: The Faith & Liberty’s Team is assisting the Worship leader Sean Feucht and a group of pro-life coalitions who will be holding a Pray, Praise & Worship Rally on May 17, noon-1 p.m. With the leak of the Dobbs case opinion, substantial fencing has been placed around the Supreme Court and roads are closed, including in front of the Ministry Center, but we can still meet. We are asking people to join us in front of the Court to pray for the Dobbs opinion. Several guests will speak at the rally. Watch the Faith & Liberty Facebook page for updates.
  • Faith & Liberty will host the She Leads America Women's Prayer Luncheon for congressional women on June 14. The Lord has been speaking to our Faith & Liberty team about planning and hosting a quarterly prayer time for “Women on the Hill.” Support for these members of Congress is crucial.
  • The International Religious Freedom Summit will be held at the end of June. Faith & Liberty is planning a breakout session at the IRF Summit.
  • Prayer Retreat: Every year our Faith & Liberty team takes a private prayer retreat during which we intercede for every one of our supporter friends—by name. Just as prayer is our lifeline in our walk with God, our supporters are our lifeline for our ministry on Capitol Hill. Being able to pray for their needs is a privilege! By seeking the Lord’s will—for our ministry, our team, our nation’s leaders and our supporters—we look to God to guide and strengthen us to accomplish all He wants us to do! To submit your prayer requests, call Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 or email us at [email protected].

Our prophetic missionary work in Washington, D.C., continues during this critical time in history. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUEST.

PRAYER CONCERNS

First, let’s thank the Lord for the unanimous Supreme Court win in the Shurtleff Christian flag case!

Continue to pray for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court case, which may be pivotal to helping overturn Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood. Pray for protection of the Justices and for an official opinion in favor of life.

Pray as Faith & Liberty works with other pro-life ministries to plan the Pray, Praise & Worship Rally on May 17.

Pray for any details that need to be finalized for the International Religious Freedom Summit in June. We want this to be an event that helps the persecuted and glorifies God.

We thank the Lord that congressional staffers continue to come to the Lord as they come to the Bible studies at our Ministry Center. Pray for those who have become new Christians and have followed the Lord in the waters of baptism.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
