Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Apr 25, 2022

Have you ever read the Bible from cover to cover out loud? It takes some stamina, but God honors this simple act of respect for His Word as the believer's final authority. Reading the Word is not merely an exercise to see if we can get through its hundreds of pages, but instead, we listen with the ears of faith (Rom. 10:17).

Starting this week, we and others who are joining us will engage in the continuous reading of the Word of God, which we expect to take 90 hours of reading around the clock. A wide variety of participants from Faith & Liberty, Liberty Counsel, Seedline International and local churches in Washington, D.C., and across the nation will read, and some may even read the Scriptures in other languages.

As we honor God through this U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, we also want to be among the people Jesus blessed: “those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28).

This Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m., we will launch the Bible Reading Marathon on Facebook Live, and we hope you will join us. The day before, Faith & Liberty’s Ministry Center will be abuzz as we begin a long day of setup for the marathon bringing in members of Congress, people from across America and even missionaries in foreign countries.

Please be in prayer for us as we prepare to host this special annual event. And let us be doers of the Word, not hearers only (James 1:22)!

Honoring His Word,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

MONDAY RECAP

  • The Faith & Liberty team was praying at the U.S. Supreme Court this morning as the Court convened to hear oral argument regarding a high school football coach who prayed at the 50-yard line after games. Coach Joseph Kennedy would thank God for keeping the players safe during the game. Eventually members of the team asked if they could join him and did so. As a result of his prayers, Coach Kennedy lost his job at a school district outside Seattle, and the dispute has come all the way to the High Court. The Court’s opinion for this argument will be announced before its June recess.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Plans and preparations are underway for all of our upcoming events. Please pray for the Lord to go before us with His blessing and that we reach those who need to hear the gospel.

Pray that the Word of God would go forth in power at the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon. We pray for hearts to be changed through this one-of-a-kind outreach.

Faith & Liberty recently messaged on an abortion clinic in Washington and babies discovered outside the clinic who may have been born alive before their lives were snuffed out. This horrible news is a reminder to intercede for the outcome of the Dobbs case that may be pivotal to helping overturn Roe v. Wade, we pray!

Pray that Faith & Liberty will continue to be a light for the gospel through our Bible studies, events and personal connections with key leaders and congressional staffers.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
