Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Apr 11, 2022
These past two weeks have been rather focused with the Supreme Court confirmation of another Justice to the High Court. But as you will have heard, one of the controversies at then-Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s hearing came with her admission that she couldn’t provide a definition for the word “woman” in that context.
At Faith & Liberty, we don’t base our ministry on the opinions on popular culture but on the Word of God. Genesis tells the story of how God created two genders, man and woman—and that’s all. We need to pray there is no gender confusion in America’s courtrooms and especially at the Supreme Court.
Here on the Hill, we’ve had a flurry of activity and opportunity to celebrate how God is using women as leaders in growing spheres of influence. We pray He will continue to lead godly women to take on key roles in our nation’s capital and in all sectors of society, and we pray for women already in such positions that they might have the wisdom that only comes from the Word.
We also celebrate the foundation of our faith—our risen Lord—this week!
Christ has risen … risen indeed!

MONDAY RECAP
This was a rich and full week of prayer as Peggy Nienaber joined in on She Leads America activities. Along with women from the organization, she participated in a prayer breakfast in the Rayburn House Office Building, which is used by the U.S. House of Representatives. The breakfast was the first official meeting of the week’s events. A small group was able to talk and pray with several Christian women who are members of Congress. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Cindy Hyde-Smith and House Chaplain Margaret Kibben attended the breakfast chaired by Congresswoman Lisa McClain and attended by several women who received congressional honors last year.
Faith & Liberty hosted a Women of Influence Leadership Luncheon as well. The luncheon provided a time to pray for each other and support those who work in influential roles. Dr. Alveda King, pro-life leader and a niece of the late Martin Luther King Jr.; Dr. Madeline Manning Mims, a four-time Olympian who brought home both Gold and Silver medals in track; and women leaders from Capitol Hill participated in the event.
Our lead missionary, Greg Cox, had fruitful meetings with supporters as he traveled this past week to speak in churches and meet privately with supporters to share in greater detail how God is using Faith & Liberty to minister effectively on Capitol Hill.
Our team has been reaching out to assist members of Congress and other supporters who want to participate by reading in the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, April 30-May 4. If you would like to participate virtually or in person by reading a Scripture passage, call Patty Bills at 202-737-1776.
The International Religious Freedom Summit will be held June 28-30, 2022, in Washington, D.C. This significant gathering is expected to impact the lives of many people of faith around the globe.
Our prophetic missionary work in Washington, D.C., continues during this critical time in history. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUEST.
We must all stay tuned in to what is happening in our nation’s capital. To stay informed on issues in Washington and play your part as a citizen and a Christian, look for Faith & Liberty's ACTION emails throughout the week. We are in this fight together for the soul of our nation.
PRAYER CONCERNS
We must continue to pray for victory in our Supreme Court case on behalf of Hal Shurtleff and Camp Constitution concerning the Christian flag. Our chairman, Mat Staver, argued the free speech case against the City of Boston in January, but we must persevere until the Court makes its decision on the matter public.
Pray for Peggy and other members of the International Religious Freedom Summit steering committee. Pray for guidance as they plan for this important event to be held June 28-30 this year.
Pray that Faith & Liberty will continue to be a light for the gospel through our Bible studies, events and personal connections with key leaders and congressional staffers. Pray that our light would shine brightly and that we would be empowered to fight the good fight in our strategic ministry on Capitol Hill.
Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!
Make a difference and partner with us.
