Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Feb 28, 2022

At the current pace of living in these unusual times, it's hard to remember everything that transpired in our lives in the last year. One year ago tomorrow, I wrote in this newsletter that fences were set up on Capitol Hill and that I had invited some of the National Guard troops stationed there to our Bible studies. Some accepted our invitation to come!

Have you heard of a "divine appointment"? Such an appointment may not be marked on your calendar, but as you are available and led by the Holy Spirit, you can engage someone in conversation and be a witness in that divinely appointed moment. The Faith & Liberty team members often have these divine appointments, just as I did that day with the Guard members.

This week in Washington, the fences have been reinstalled, Joe Biden will give his State of the Union address, and truckers are expected to show up en masse around the city in protest against vaccine mandates and restrictions on freedom.

Will you be open to God's leading and allow Him to set some divine appointments on your calendar this week? As you do, please pray for our Faith & Liberty team to be open to His daily direction in this important week in our nation's capital.

Looking for our next divine appointment,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

Vice President Peggy Nienaber with Amanda, the engagement director of the National Faith Advisory Board.

MONDAY RECAP

  • Patty Bills, Faith & Liberty's director of constituency affairs, participated in a virtual conference with former Gov. Mike Huckabee and Million Voices CEO John Graves. The discussion was about the impact of mail to constituents in each congressional district informing them of the ministry work on Capitol Hill and reaching millions each week. The focus of the call was on Proverbs 18:17: "The first to plead his case seems just, until another comes and examines him."
  • Peggy Nienaber participated in the Capitol Hill Ministries virtual meeting with U.S. House Chaplain Margaret Kibben. This monthly meeting helps participating ministries know how we can be supportive of each other and help during the restrictions that limit some ministries' movement throughout the buildings on Capitol Hill. Praying with each other and connecting with God's Word helps us stay strong as we all minister in our nation's capital.
  • Peggy also held a virtual meeting to pray with staff from the Capitol. The restrictions can be challenging these days, and entry to Capitol Hill is difficult for many staffers as security fences go up and down.
  • Lead Missionary Greg Cox continues to daily assist people seeking religious exemptions from unconstitutional vax mandates.
  • And, our Bible studies continue to grow in numbers. Each study has a different theme and focus.

COMING SOON
  • Our team is working to sign up members of Congress and other supporters to participate in the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon, April 30-May 4. Call today if you would like to participate virtually or in person by reading a Scripture passage. Call 202-737-1776 and ask for Patty Bills.
  • Planning continues for the International Religious Freedom Summit, June 28-30. Faith & Liberty will be a sponsor this year, so we will have more involvement ahead of and at the IRF Summit.
  • We continue preparations for the Liberty University Alumni dinner, which is always an enjoyable experience.
  • We are also in the process of making appointments for the Washington Studies interns who will be visiting and shadowing our Faith & Liberty team in our ministry activities.

Our prophetic missionary work in Washington, D.C., continues during this critical time in history. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUEST.

We must all stay tuned in to what is happening in our nation’s capital. To stay informed on issues in Washington and play your part as a citizen and a Christian, look for Faith & Liberty's ACTION emails throughout the week. We are in this fight together for the soul of our nation.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for Peggy and other Steering Committee members who are planning for the International Religious Freedom Summit 2022. Pray for wisdom and guidance as the committee plans the course of the event for maximum impact.

We're looking for victory in our Supreme Court free speech case on behalf of Hal Shurtleff and Camp Constitution concerning the Christian flag. Our chairman, Mat Staver, argued the case against the City of Boston on January 18. Please stand with us in prayer until the Court announces its decision.

Our team continues to connect with new ministries coming to Washington as we see God moving and building His army here. Pray that we will be able to coordinate and serve each other so that the work of the gospel would not be hindered.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
