Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Feb 21, 2022

Our Ministry Center in Washington, D.C., was filled to capacity last Thursday evening as we hosted a special guest for an inspiring purpose.

The Captive Nations Coalition, which is part of the Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC), advocates on behalf of and stands with nations suffering under the occupation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Faith & Liberty team was privileged to host both advocates and survivors at the event.

The Captive Nations Coalition presented NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom with the 2022 Freedom Award. Two Chinese women—Zhang Zhan, a Christian, and Peng Shuai, a tennis star—also were honored with Speak Truth to Power awards for their heroism in speaking out publicly against the CCP.

Freedom—who formally adopted that last name after becoming a U.S. citizen in November—is the first recipient of the Freedom Award. He also has the great honor of being nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.

“I cannot call myself a hero, when we have these heroes in front of me,” Freedom said of the two women being honored. “You can talk about all the social justice, all the injustices that are happening around the world, but when it comes to China, you cannot speak up, because if you do, then you have to face the consequences.”

It was a packed house as Lead Missionary Greg Cox and I welcomed those in attendance. We thanked the Captive Nations Coalition, the CPDC and Mr. Freedom for standing against tyranny and also spoke on the importance of religious freedom in America.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for those who lead our Bible studies and give thanks to the Lord for the new congressional staffers who have been attending, so much so that we needed to start yet another ongoing study. Pray for open hearts and minds to the gospel message.

Pray for our regular interactions with members of Congress and others on Capitol Hill, that the Lord would be glorified through our engagement with these key leaders.

Pray for Peggy and other Steering Committee members who are planning for the International Religious Freedom Summit 2022. Pray for wisdom and guidance as the committee plans the course of the event for maximum impact. Pray for the other important events the Faith & Liberty team is participating in as well.

We're looking for victory in our Supreme Court free speech case on behalf of Hal Shurtleff and Camp Constitution concerning the Christian flag. Our chairman, Mat Staver, presented the oral argument against the City of Boston on January 18. Please stand with us in prayer until the Court announces its decision in the case.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
