Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Aug 9, 2021

Our team was in Orlando, Florida, throughout much of last week for the biennial General Council of the Assemblies of God. While Faith & Liberty is an interdenominational outreach to Washington, D.C., this gathering of over 16,000 people provided a marvelous opportunity to interact with pastors and church leaders from across America.

These men and women of faith are dedicated spiritual leaders who, like all of us at Faith & Liberty, love freedom, respect the family as God defines it and are committed to the defense and preservation of the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

We are thankful for a special time of communion and fellowship with these faith leaders!

Blessings in Christ,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

THE MONDAY RECAP

  • In-depth conversations: From Monday through Friday, we engaged scores of pastors and church leaders. These were more than just "let's exchange business cards" moments. We met pastors, missionaries, college presidents, church board members and a host of others for in-depth conversations about the strategic work of Faith & Liberty in Washington, D.C.
  • Ministry outreach: We shared with them our many outreaches to America's leaders as well as our daily efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our nation's public policy makers.
  • Spiritual engagement: Many had no idea of the level of spiritual engagement Faith & Liberty brings to Capitol Hill. They were thrilled to hear of our many prayer meetings, Bible studies with staffers on the Hill, our women's and men's meetings and the number of legislative leaders hearing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time.
  • Critical legislation: At the same time, many of these pastors expressed alarm at what they are seeing in our nation's capital. They were excited to hear of our ongoing work to impact the hearts and minds of our leaders with the truths of the gospel and to fight against such insane legislation as the so-called "Equality Act," the federalizing of our election system and the dangerous efforts to create a vaccine passport.

COMING THIS WEEK

  • The Monday Club will start out the week with studies focusing on God's creation. Participants will discuss worldviews and the beginning of the universe.
  • The Wednesday and Thursday evening Bible Studies will continue for staff on Capitol Hill with study and much-needed prayer time.
  • On Saturday, we will host the Men's Prayer Time Breakfast.

Our prophetic missionary work in Washington, D.C., continues during this critical time in history. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUEST.

We must all stay tuned in to what is happening in our nation’s capital. To stay informed on issues in Washington (e.g., “John Lewis Voting Rights Act,” “Equality Act”) and do your part as a citizen and a Christian, look for the Faith & Liberty ACTION emails throughout the week.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for the relationships we started with church leaders at the Assemblies of God General Council to be nurtured and for key partnerships to form out of the conversations we had last week.

Pray that more Capitol Hill staffers would be open to regularly attend the Monday Club and Bible Studies. Ask that the Holy Spirit will touch the hearts of those who attend and help them apply God's Word in both their personal and professional lives.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
