Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Jun 14, 2021

At Faith & Liberty, we have the privilege of meeting with people from all walks of life who bring their hopes and dreams, concerns and requests  to the nation's capital. We also engage members of Congress and the staff who support them in their legislative roles. We could not serve in this spiritual battle without your support in prayer just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses' arms while Joshua led the Israelites in physical battle (Ex. 17:12-13).

We serve from our Ministry Center, located directly across the street from the Supreme Court. Join us in prayer that God would multiply our efforts from this strategic location to bring the influences of salt and light (Matt. 5:13-16) to Washington, D.C.

Blessings in Christ,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

THE MONDAY RECAP

  • The CHANGED MOVEMENT completed their advocacy work on Capitol Hill, ending with intercessory prayer to seal all they had accomplished. The group finished meeting with senators and staffers in person and online through Zoom meetings held from the Ministry Center.
  • Peggy Nienaber met virtually with Margaret Kibben, chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives. We talked and prayed about how our ministry on Capitol Hill can be even more effective and how she can help in our outreach to the staffers. She also shared that she has been in combat and has seen some tough days. She would like to see people praying for each other instead of competing against each other.
  • Patty Bills, F&L's director of constituency affairs, joined Ambassador Sam Brownback and some of America's key leaders for an intercessory prayer conference call. The focus of the call was to intercede for the protection of religious freedom and people around the world who have suffered persecution.
  • The Ladies Prayer Brunch brought many ladies to the Ministry Center to hear the message of the week. They also spent time together in prayer and fellowship.
  • The other Bible Studies also had good attendance as staffers and others who work on Capitol Hill shared their prayer requests and read God's Word together.
  • Peggy Nienaber and a group of those who work on Capitol Hill met virtually with news analyst and author Dana Perino. Dana shared about her latest book, Everything Will Be Okay: Life Lessons for Young Women (from a Former Young Woman), and about her time as a staffer and White House press secretary. She talked about living life to the fullest, finding joy and purpose, and keeping one's faith strong as the work on Capitol Hill is both important and rewarding.

COMING THIS WEEK

  • Peggy Nienaber will participate in the Hill Meeting for updates on legislation and other important issues in Washington.
  • Peggy continues to serve on the International Religious Freedom Summit steering committee, assisting with VIP speakers and inviting Christian organizations to participate.
  • Peggy will be speaking with potential interns from different colleges who have shown an interest in working at the Ministry Center.
  • Peggy will meet with a mission group from Olla, Louisiana, to share about the Faith & Liberty ministry and outreach on Capitol Hill.
