Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Joe Biden is making passage of the "Equality Act" a high priority during June "Pride Month" with Kamala Harris leading the efforts. In addition, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is promising a vote to pass HR 5 this month!
This is the most serious threat to our freedom today. In its quest to mandate LGBT & Q, the Equality Act will BAN LIFESAVING COUNSELING FOR ALL AGES. And Sen. Schumer is pushing this bill now. Send an urgent fax to tell the Senate to VOTE NO on the EQUALITY ACT. — Your team at Faith & Liberty
This week in our Ministry Center, right across the street from the U.S. Supreme Court, we are hosting leaders of the CHANGED Movement who want to stop HR 5. Change is what HR 5 wants to criminalize. We'll let a woman who knows firsthand tell her own story:
"I am a former lesbian who went through SOCE [sexual orientation change efforts] counseling, and my life is proof that SOCE counseling can and does work for individuals struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions, behaviors or identity.
"I was sexually abused as a child and experienced tremendous trauma from that abuse. ... At the tender age of 16, I was already involved in a same-sex relationship. ... My therapist was adamant that I was a lesbian, that I was born a lesbian, that I would always be a lesbian and that I should just accept and embrace it because there was nothing that I could do about it."
When she was 24, "my girlfriend at the time told me that she had heard of this thing called SOCE counseling and that she wanted to start trying it. This was the first time in my life that I had ever heard anyone even mention that change was possible. ... I have been changed and reformed from that lifestyle for 23 years now."
But the Equality Act would make this life-changing counseling illegal. It would erase the hope and help this woman found. It would make a professional counselor, or even a pastor, an outlaw if they dared spread hope and freedom in Christ.
Sen. Schumer announced he is pushing this bill hard!
Yet, this bill will even make someone sharing their own personal testimony—illegal! That's why we're asking you to act now by faxing the Senate to oppose this outrageous bill.
Since California passed the first change-counseling ban against helping people overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, we have fought to keep the government out of the counseling room. Why is that important?
We'll let a man who testified under oath share his own struggle:
"When I was 5 years old, I was sexually molested by a 16-year-old high school boy who was also my neighbor. ... I had traumatic experiences in perceiving and feeling that I was not really a male child. ... I found myself sexually attracted to men because of my earlier abuse. ... I carried a feeling of immense and crushing shame for my same-sex attractions."
He said he "became clinically depressed twice, dealt with tremendous anxiety, experienced obsessive-compulsive disorder and knew in my heart that I was very confused about my sexual orientation and gender identity. In the latter years of this 20-year period, I found a course of treatment that truly helped me resolve the issues I had been experiencing."
But the counseling this man found that saved his life will be banned by the Equality Act. Tell the Senate to VOTE NO on the EQUALITY ACT. Select here or the button below.
Counseling is a lot like a GPS map system. You tell the counselor where you want to go, and the counselor helps you reach that destination. But the Equality Act bans one view of counseling—the Christian view. Years of study show that 85% of young people who experience gender confusion resolve naturally without any intervention at all. But the dictatorial Equality Act seeks to cement gender confusion, and no one can object.
Our hearts break to think this lifesaving counsel could be banned—for everyone, including pastors and church counselors. Rush your urgent fax to the Senate to stop the Equality Act.

Remember, "we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast" (see Heb. 6:18-19). Our hope is never dependent on the whims of a politician, and our laws should reflect that!
